Hey Dave

Not sure if this is covered, but I'm sure it will be interesting to pretty much everyone on here!

Everyone knows dive bars and many venues are old and have shit for voltage. The wiring is old and line voltage may be too high or low outside the standard 110-120V range. Likewise, many musicians I know bitch about noise, then their equipment sounds great and quiet at home, but they play out, plug in, and boom, noise city!

What would YOU recommend for:

1. Keeping line voltage constant
2. Getting rid of any line noise

Knowing there are both folks in here that will pay stupid amounts for diminishing returns and people on the budgetel, I think it should be answered with (4 identified units in total):

1. The best of each
2. The cheapest of each, that will still do the job

PLEASE ADVISE and thanks in advance! :)

Furman 1800ar expensive, voltage regulation and all the filtering anyone would need.
Furman m-8x AR voltage regulation and some filtering at about half the price of the above.

Now you can just use a standard furman for line filtering like a pl8plus, you won't really get any benefit from other more expensive line filters. These do not regulate the voltage though.

Now nothing will get rid of Emi noise in the air that your guitar picks up... out of luck every place is different.

Actually, I was able to get rid of 95% of the EMI (RFI) noise in my rig (BE100) by attaching a small ferrite
core box to my guitar cable where it goes into the input jack. No more radio stations coming through the clean channel of my amp. No tone loss either.

Thanks Dave and again for everyone out there. I HIGHLY stress getting one. Now me personally, I've been using a Furman Line Conditioner which will help with EMI and RFI at best, but if you also want to ensure your equipment is running in top-shape, you NEED a unit with a Voltage Regulator in it.

I personally was looking specifically for a 1U unit. I seen some that were lilke 2U or 3U. I didn't want to eat up that much space in my rack system!

I think Furman's are overpriced and you're paying for the name and marketed toward musicians and guitar players. I specifically wanted to get Dave's advice and the unit is fine and I bought one, but they are overpriced.

For those cats interested and want to protect their systems and get the best out of them, a guy on eBay has a shit-ton of used Furman AR-1215 (same as current M-8X model) for a bout $200! - https://www.ebay.com/itm/361841088018

For those interested in actually a better unit (thou not rack mountable on it's own), the Tripp Lite units are fantastic and higher joule energy spike protection! They have a few different models - https://www.tripplite.com/1200w-120v-po ... ts~LC1200/

You can pick up these units for about $100 or $50 used. - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Tripp-Lite-3755 ... SwtnpXkPPK

Enjoy, keep your shit protected and running great and thanks for your input Dave. Looking forward to installing my Furman in my rack. Not sure what the hell I'll do with my old conditioner, probably give it to a friend and fellow musicians as a birthday present or something!

Since the Furman 1800AR is spec'd to provide 120V, but at +/- 5V, the voltage being supplied to your amp could be 115 up to 125. I wanted more control than that. So I combined a Furman 1800PFR conditioner with a Brown Box by AmpRX. This combo works great for me, and allows me to adjust the voltage as needed depending upon what's coming out of the outlet. I can set the voltage being supplied to my BE100 way down to around 105 volts to make it nice an' squishy if I want, or up to 115-120V, which is what the amp was designed to use. :D
