I just read a Scott Henderson interview where he says recording with 96KHZ always sounds much better with guitar.

I haven't been doing this with my load box and WOS and Logic pro x, but wondering what everyone's opinions about this is. Does it make a big difference with load boxes and impulse responses?

Am interested in hearing the difference.

Personally, I always opt for the highest sample rate available...

There are lots of discussion on this topic on various recording forums like TapeOp, gearslutz and SoundonSound. My read on this is there is an advantage to the higher resolution however if a part of the chain is being severely taxed, the gain in resolution is quickly offset by the system correcting itself while handling the extra burden of the increase in throughput required. If you go 96kHz, the whole chain needs to be up to the task.

If your music is made from tons of tracks, compressed and tight like most pop today then the higher sampling rate may not change much. If your arrangements are very sparse with lots of room tone and dynamics, higher sample rates may be the ticket.

The native sampling rate to create a Torpedo capture is 96kHz btw.

I'm a bit confused. If I'm doing overdubs at 96khz and bounce those tracks, and then send those audio files to be part of a session that's in a lower sample rate, is there any downside to that?

Most softwares nowadays feature a proper sample rate converter. I wouldn't mind too much about having your 96 converted into 44,1.
