Question about Celestion G12-K100 vs T-75

So I have a Bogner Ubercab which has a cross of V30's and T75's and I think they work very well together since the V30's have the mids and uppermids, while the T75's are scooped and have that treble sizzle, and big, tight bottom, but I heard some say the G12-K100 is supposed to be like T75 with more everything and just better in every way, which seems like it would be an even better option to cross with V30's, but I've also heard that for crossing with V30's the T75's work a lot better than the G12-K100, but the K100 sounds better on it's own. What do you guys think?

I've crossed V30's with both T75's and GK-85's(older version of the K100s) and like both. On their own I prefer the 85's, but I still like old 75's too. The K100 is pretty much neutral and doesn't really fart out or get flubby. Ultimately though, I prefer all the same speakers whether they be V30s, T75's or K85's. And 2 4x12s of them if I'm being specific.  I guess it's just a matter of experimenting with your particular amp.

Can't speak for crossing them with anything, but I've got a 2x12 loaded with G12-K100s and absolutely love them. Will handle a ton, and I mean a ton of bass and stay tight never farting out. I feel like the frequency range is laid back which really seems to let the amp/guitar dictate things quite a bit. They don't seem to color your sound I guess is what I'm trying to say.

Well I guess I just repeated what bubbastain said for the most part

I love the K100's. I prefer them to 75's but never tried them in combo with another speaker though.

Not quite.
The modern T75's are very scooped sounding in their mids, plus their high-end is kinda harsh. More of a nasty sizzle.
The K100 (well, my experience is with various K85's...) is more balanced, but compared to the T75 that equals to
-thicker/opener mids
-reasonably smooth/rounded high-end with enough definition, without sounding dull. Mind you, my K85's are old and well broken-in.

I do have 30 yr old T75's as well and they sound closer to those K85's than any modern T75 would. Still, the K85 sounds bigger.

I have one 2x12 where I have one of the old T75's mixed with a Mesa V30; that cab has something magical going on.
Another 2x12 I have a Chinese V30 with a K85. Big and tight sounding.
Live, I use my Mesa Vertical 2x12; G12-65 on top, Mesa V30 on bottom. Big and smooth. Helps tame the EVH 5150III 50W.

Don't know about mixing them in the same cab, but my MF400 with 4x G12-K100s is the best cab I've ever played in more than 25 years! Not even a Mesa 4x12 can put the same "in your face" wall with tons of low end.

I've heard extensive studio testing of K100s vs other speakers. Don't like them. They may present a tone, but they don't move, they add no character by my ears. Wouldn't buy them myself.

This is accurate. To me, the new(er) T75s don't sound anything like K85s/K100s, which are not at all harsh, flabby or scooped. They are very neutral sounding, however--especially for a Celestion--and they feel more stiff and inert under the fingers than do lower-wattage speakers like the Greenback, H30, Vintage 30, etc. Accordingly, I like them better for pummeling rhythms than I do for singing leads. YMMV, and all that.

 I've not played them in a 4x12, but the same holds true by my ears with my G12-K100 loaded 2x12.

Have you ever played on them?

Not sure what "they don't move means"?

I can agree with you on the "add no character" part to some extent because to my ears they are on the neutral side. But different strokes, I like to hear more of my amp and guitar's character I guess. Their a lot more expensive than speakers, and I want to hear where all that money went

depends on what kind of material
k100s slay for dropZ brootz and good enough for everything else. I like that they are neutral in character
Pairing them with v30s is a WIN

Like how V30s, Greenbacks, and T75s to differing extents will give or sag or smear a bit when you dig in which adds to the dynamic feel and sound of a tube amp IMO. I don't think K100s do that as much.

I got ya. I absolutely agree there. I feel like G12-K100s are a bit stiff in feel/response compared to V30s.

I'm not a huge fan of them really, K100's or T75's. I have a few Diezel cabs with the V30/K100 X pattern and a stock Uberkab. The Diezel cabs do sound better over all.

I'm to the point that I don't like any of the common Celestions anymore, other than the Mesa V30.

I did it and could not be happier with the results.

How would you compare the sound to how it was with the 75's?

What about the Diezel cabs do you prefer to the Ubercab? What speakers do you prefer to the common Celestions?

The Diezel cab is slightly better built IMHO and I like it's lay out better. I don't really care for the angled baffle on the Uberkab.

As I said in my last post, I prefer the Mesa version V30 over all other Celestions.

Yeah I have the MF400 with K100's as well. You can get these cabs for dirt cheap. I got it for $249 shipped from GC used site.
