Question about Fuses in a VH4

I went to radioshack cause my tube fault indicator came on. My amp say it needs .25a (250ma??) fuse the guy at radioshack said a .50a fuse would work. Is this true? They don't have any .25a fuses

The fuses that are in my amp are .25a 250v slow blow

Just asking cause I don't want to fuck something up... knowing me, I would.

I would stick to the stock fuse size. Yes a .5/500m amp fuse will work but that's asking for trouble. If there is a problem it will take twice as much over current to blow the fuse. Possibly causing damage to the amp before the fuse shorts. Just my opinion, I would ask Mr. Diezel

See that's what I figured. The guy at radioshack however, argued with me just trying to make a sale to an obviously inexperienced teen. That pisses me off so much.

Always (always) use the correct value. Fuses are built in for saftely, esp. to avoid heavy damage to your amp.

If you put a 500mA fuse into a socket rated 250mA you may cause your amp to burn resistors, caps and such. It even can catch fire.

So again: always use the correct value.

Could that cause a reading of low plate voltage? ( I think that's what its called )

We put the fuse in and biased the amp and noticed my plate voltage ( the one where the tube had the .50a fuse) was reading lower then the other 3.

At that point we didn't know the fuses where the wrong ones. So we then checked and noticed and we decided to take it out when I got home. So it wasn't in there for very long.

I am so pissed that they just assumed what I need and I trusted them.

You mean probably the bias current.

No, it is not affected by the (value of the) fuse.

Hell yeah! Its pretty much the only ones I could find that look like mine! I saw some that were .25a but they are at least 1 1/2 inches long...

Hopefully we can get her kicking 100% man!
