I have been listening to the few clips around & while they sound cool I can't help thinking that it sounds like a super hot rodded jcm 800. Is this the case or am I missing something? I have had marshalls & a splawn & wanting a more modern sounding high gain head. The twin jet seems to have those splawn like angry sounding mids. I was expexting more lower mids. Can you dial in more modern sounds?
I posted this at tgp but it seems there are more metal fans here.

I haven't yet heard a clip of the Twin Jet that I've really liked. I bought it because of a few reasons: first, the tones from Alice in Chains' Black Gives Way to Blue and - please no flaming - Stone Sour's self titled. Second, I got the Twin Jet because of the way people were raving about it over the previous revisions, and though I imagine you can get close with the other revisions with KT88s, I love the two gain channels of the Twin Jet!

I owned a 2203 JCM800 for a while and am not hearing too much resemblance. Unlike many other amps, I feel pretty strongly that the Uber is unique. I've never hearn another amp do what the Uber can with its voicing. Never been a big fan of Splawn, though I'm only going off recordings. I dial my Twin Jet to have a very modern sound with plenty of low mids!

Yeah I think the Twin Jet sounds very modern on channel 2. Channel 1 is more traditional and has some very Marshall-like tones in it.

Do you guys have any experience with any of these other amps & how they might compare to the twin jet; diezel einstein or a elmwood m90 or a splawn nitro? From the clips on you tube from tone merchant I think the elmwood m90 sounds more metal than the tj. But this may just be the way they had them set up. In all the tj clips I here a lot of angry mids but not much low end.

Hi,
The Twin jet music is not heard more nowadays.Off course it is having a good rhythm to hear it. It consist of modern trend as well as the earlier trends too. But very less people play such Twin jet.

I wasn't "on a soap box" Mr. Smarty Pants. I easily could tell what he was trying to say, and I still think your comment was rude.

Yeah well there's a right way and a wrong way to say that isn't there?

I said it in a light hearted, joking manner.

If I had said something like, "Hey, learn to speak the language or get the hell out!!!", that would have been rude. ;)

Any chance anyone could compare the Uberschall TJ to, say, the Splawn Nitro and Rivera K-Tre? I currently have a Rivera Knucklehead Reverb and I have a K-Tre coming before the end of the month, and now, after looking through this thread, I have Uber (TJ) GAS

GAS AWAY BRADDAH!!!!!

I JUST picked up my brand new TJ and UberKab last night... I haven't had a chance to open it up volume-wise yet, but what I did get to play with for 2+ hours was simply AWESOME. I own a Diezel VH4S and have had MANY other hi-gain and/or boutique amps (Soldano, Cornford, Marshall, Hiwatt, yada yada, etc.). The deal here is, if I may, new amps are so exciting to get, they make us in some ways feel as though we'll play that much better, they're borderline objects of obsession, hey - we all suffer from it. But what I love about this new Uberschall (I just sold my Rev.Blue for these reasons) is that Channel 1 is SO huge in its range....it's clean, and super clean if ya work the knobs on your ax; it's thick, it's dirty, it's crunchy and it's brutal, and SO much more in between... Channel 2 is simply 'sick'. Off the charts. But we've come to expect that from the Uber. Having had a lot of amps and a lot of studio gear come through my place, what I love about the Uberschall (and by the way, the matching Kab X loaded with 75's and V30's sounds so far, like a really good mix!!) is this - simple 2 channel amp, tons of power, amazing EQ controls, and outrageous tone. I know the XTC is out there too, but I've come to realize perhaps less-is-more with the Uber, not to mention, the hi-gain kick in the nuts of Channel 2 (and man, watch out for the bass!!) is out of this world...

Peace!
V.

PS - I'll be posted pics on my other thread "JUST got my Uber and I don't like...".

The channel 1 mod to the TJ, does it make the channel as clean as the one on rev blue? :) How does one go about getting the mod done? Ship the amp to Bogner?

thanks

I have an unmodded Twin Jet and it cleans up just fine. I have to put the gain knob very low to do this, but it's still not a problem. I believe the only thing the mod would do is adjust the taper - and not tone - so you can run the gain higher and it's still clean. From my understanding, it'll get as clean as the rev. blue, but it will still sound different and will still be capable of going into high gain when you raise the knob up.

Personally, I've been using it like a 3 channel amp by having ch 1 on mid gain, ch 2 on high gain and using channel 1 with the vol. rolled off for my cleans. That's one of my favorite things about this amp: you can just turn your volume control down and the amp cleans up beautifully.

The way I was told it works - I was thinking about having this done and decided it isn't necessary - is you ship your amp to Bogner and they do it free of charge. I don't know if it's still free, but if not, it should be simple enough; just changing or adding a resistor, I believe.

Thanks for the reply. Really appreciate it!

My dilemma, a guy online selling his Rev blue for $1750 and a guy locally selling his Twin Jet for $1900. I guess I should really go with the twin jet huh?

Well, the only advice I can chime in here is, having owned both, the TJ was just the next evolutionary step in the Uberschall lineage... So, the Re.Blue was before it, and there must have been some reasons to "evolve" it into a TJ. Also depends on your wants and tastes. My Rev.Blue was basically a 1 channel, hi-gain amp (that being the 2nd channel)... I could slam FX into the first channel, and they sucked up just fine - but without FX, it really was, as someone put it before, a 1 trick pony. AND, since I buy "boutique" amps for their inherent tone, I'm not a HUGE fan of FX period. I tend to like 1 guitar, 1 cable, and the amp and cabinet if I can - maybe a little DD to thicken up my sound, but that's it. So the Rev.Blue kinda had this useless channel that was really only good for super cleans (which weren't as clean as my VH4S's channel 1), or an FX channel, and I'm not too into FX - I'm still a BOSS stompbox kinda guy, primitive really, but it works.

I've been playing my TJ a lot lately - and guess what channel I am on most of the time?? Channel 1. Why?? Cuz it's got serious territory on it... Clean to crunch to plexi. Nice.
