Questions for Cameron Aldrich mod owners

Hey my fellow Rockers . I was wondering what kind of tubes this mod uses? And I was wondering if this mod is sort of like the Marshall jmp tone Doug Aldrich used with Lion, and Dio? Thanks for your time .

The Aldrich mod i owned, to my ears, sounded very similar to the Dio - Killing The Dragon CD!

Doug's tone with Lion, sounds more like the Cameron HG Jose mod. Back then he was using late 70s JMP's and a 71 SuperLead, which had been modified by Frank Levi at SIR Studios.
I havent had a chance to actually check out the insides of a Frank Levi mod yet.. Heard its a bit similar to the Caswell mod but i dont know for sure!
Either way, i do find that the Cameron HG Jose mod i had did the Lion tone better than the Aldrich mod. But if you like Doug's Dio tone, the Aldrich will be perfect for you!

Thank you so much man that helped out alot. I had no idea Doug had another amp with Lion. I really am leaning more towards the Lion sound. I'm stressed abit I'm looking for an amp to use in the studio. I'm looking around for a jmp head, and a superlead would be awesome too. A clean tone has been the biggest adventure so far. If I could own one rock star amp it would be the Marshall Doug used with Lion. I wasn't sure if the aldrich mods were using 6550, or el34 tubes.

I'm new to marshall modding, is the Caswell mod the mod used on the Plexi T Slash used on Appetite?

Mark is cool as hell by the way, I have spoken to him on the phone before. He's an artist of sound. We talked about John Sykes tone. One of my all time favorites . I hope to buy a ccm, and have him mod a marshall if he's not busy. This info helped making a decision .

I dont know how true my statement was about the Caswell thing being like Frank Levi's mod. Its just something i heard on a couple forums but i honestly cant confirm it. Mark Cameron would definitly be the guy to ask though, i bet he has worked on or seen some Frank Levi modded Marshalls in the past!

Yes Slash used a Caswell modded Marshall on Appetite for Destruction

If you can get hold of him on the phone, call Mark again and tell him the sound you are aiming for. He'll definitly be able to push you in the right direction so you end up with the tone you want!

Hey. I'm not familiar with Lion but I'll look it up and see what the sound is like. As coincidence would have it I have a Cameron Aldrich and a Caswell so i can give you a pretty good feel for which is closer.
