I just headed over to the Vigier website for the hell of it and I am kind of GASsing for one. Their features such as ball-pivoting needles instead of knife edges and hardened zero fret seems like really GOOD advances, not just useless "unique" features. How are their neck profiles? I am (obviously) an ESP fan boy and I also love Ibanez. Are they similar to those in any way? Overall how do they have good resonance and sustain? Any other information from you owners/players would be great! Thanks!

I love my Vigier Excalibur. Its the only "shredder" style guitar I own. The zero fret allows for ridiculously low action. The neck profile is really cool. It has that "flat fretboard shredder" feel but its so much more comfortable to me than an Ibanez neck. Resonance and sustain are both really good. The sustain is epic. And the trem is a very cool design. Fits nicely underneath my hand and I can whammy all over the place without going out of tune. Mine has Dimarzio PAF Classic pickups and they're a bit dark. Im not a huge Dimarzio fan but everyone who has heard my Vigier live says it sounds epic.

Bob Savage and Ed D both use Vigier. Hopefully they will chime in as well. :)

wow anyone see the resemblance between guitarslingers's avatar and the emotion icon?

I was kind of hoping to hear the opposite of this so I could stop GASsing :aww:

Which one is that?

My Excalibur stays in tune better than any other guitar I own (Suhrs,TA,Parker) thanks to the ball-bearing trem. The neck is a little bigger than the thin IBZs (18mm 1st/20 12th vs 19.5-23mm) and are a nice D-shape.Also with the carbon rod in the neck you don't have to worry about the neck warping. Definitely a quality instrument.

Does the lack of a truss prevent neck relief adjustments? Some people prefer more relief, some less.

Indeed, you best like a straight neck otherwise you need to have your guitartech take thge relief out of the frets.
But as far as low action, flat board burn is concerned nothing beats any of my 5 Vigiers, especially the SL model.

I have an Excalibur Custom.

I'm not sure whether I like the zero fret, particularly since mine has a little wear on it that causes a "click" when I bend my E and B strings (I had it "replaced" for more money than I wanted to spend, and it still clicks... I don't think it was replaced but was reasured it was. Another story for another time.), but the guitar sounds killer, stays in tune better than anything I've played (even with harsh whammy abuse), and plays great.

I only wish I had another one, and a new zero fret for my current one.

Ah Bob....you did have.....ah nevermind.

Yeah, but it sucked. ;) I really shouldn't have sold it, but without the expendable income of the past (when there were two incomes), I have to sell to buy. :(

On the razor's edge as we speak myself, target is getting larger every month.

I think you are having enough fun with your video stuff to keep yourself happy and busy :)

Man, I know the story bro. I do have a couple new toys though. I'm doing some bass rig changes and picked up another Sansamp RBI. The cool part is I also picked up a Mackie FR800 power amp, which sounds spectacular with the RBI. I've got the RBI, FR800 and Axe-Fx mounted in the rack and am hoping the Axe sounds good with it too (and expect it will). I'll have an 8 space guitar AND bass rig. Now I just need a MIDI pedal for the Axe and a power conditioner for the rack.

All the SL models are non-locking tremolo, correct? With your repeated gigging on these, I know the tuning has to hold up well. Would that be a fair statement?

I about ready to pull the trigger and get another quality guitar. The only 2 on my list at the moment are Vigier and Suhr.
stays in tune fine for a non locking, but when everything is said and done my BBF and my Excalibur Custom are my go to whammy planks and both have Floyds.

I cant believe I forgot to mention the tuning thing. These guys are right. My Vigier stays in tune better than any of my other guitars. I took it on a west coast tour with The Bexar County Bastards during February and it rolled around in the back of a cold ass Uhaul trailer and still stayed in tune. I beat the piss out of it on that tour. Night after night it was covered in sweat, beer, and whiskey and it just kept going. Twas epic. :D

I was checking out Excaliburs on line the other day. They look great and seem fantastic; one had a trans-black finish and maple board which was great looking.

They have a 12" radius right? How does the mega-low action and straight neck work out on bends with that radius?

Edit: Here it is...

How does their quality compare to the likes of Suhr, Anderson, etc?

It seems though that zero fret needs replacement quite often, as it is always fretted when playing. Also open notes seem to sound different due to the permanent metal on metal touch (can be a good thing I suppose).

I'd like one for trying for sure.

As Skanky and tainted as this boy is I will admit if a guitar survives Shea it has to be good
