Just found out from a high school friend of mine that Frankie Banali died. I was completely unaware that he played on my friend's first album and he said he just talked to him two months ago.

I never had the chance to meet him but he always seemed like a great guy in interviews, etc. He just seemed real, authentic, and caring. My buddy confirmed he was like that.

I was a huge KISS, Styx, Cheap Trick, etc. fan in the 70. Quiet Riot was my first introduction into metal and have been a fan of that type of music ever since. When you hear that drum roll at the beginning of "Metal Health", it just hits you in the chest. R.I.P. to another one of the giants who gave us a reason to pick up the guitar. :(

Awe man.... that's sad. :(

I know he was really sick... but dang. Randy, Kevin, now Frankie... wow.

Yeah man, Rudy still doing his thing and the rest are gone. It is crazy when every member of a band you liked is gone like The Ramones, Motorhead, etc.

Maybe Rudy and Carlos will get together with another singer/drummer and do some sort of tribute tour or something. I know they tried in the past with different singers, but didn't work out.

Carlos wants nothing to do with Rudy for some reason. He’s been playing with Snow again.

Quiet Riot: Well now your here. There's no way back.

Frankies documentary of trying to get RIOT back together.

I have this DVR'd

Pretty cool and worthy of watching

Yep. Saw it. You can tell how much Frankie really wanted it all to work out with a new singer... but the band kept striking out or hitting bad luck. Good documentary though.

Man, that sucks. Goes to show how out of the loop all of us are on a lot of the stuff that happens in the music business.

Never been a big QR fan, but that documentary is just SO great for anyone into the music of that era. It introduced me to what a great guy Frankie seemed to be, and did a great job telling their (helluva great) story. RIP Frankie.

Saw QR as an opener to Maiden and then as a headliner with Whitesnake (w/ Sykes) opening.

That version at that time was a monster live act. They could hold their own with anyone and Frankie was a fantastic drummer. In his later years with QR it's like he changed up alot of stuff, meter was faster, obviously players / styles were different etc... but those shows with Kevin, Rudy and Carlos when they were at the top of their game - as good a live act as I've ever seen.
