balanced cables are tip, ring and ground, this helps for longer run cables from getting noise interduced by canceling it out
Unbalanced cables are tip and ground, this is fine for short runs. In fact alot of gear use unbalanced outs, such as the axe, if you are using 1/4 cables from the output, it is an unbalanced output. It has a balanced xlr output as well. No real need in using all balanced cables for such short run, doesn't really have much to do with adding a ground loop in.
Mogami cables are nice, however, overpriced. I mean really, don't go breaking your bank just for all mogami cables when really, I have had no issues or noticable noise using cheaper cables. I also have mogami cables, but like I said, the others have worked just fine.
I believe there was an actual study on whether or not all this high end cable debate was really worth it. evidence goes both ways.
