After Dominic/Bracola listed his midnight Dig for sale I immediately sent Strymon an email. I have wanted a rackmount delay from them forever and their Dig dual delay/V3 would be incredible for rack users. Here is where you can make some noise and give them some feedback. I told them numerous forums talk about this and how great it would be and you can too.

Some other ideas that'd be cool is to have this hypothetical unit be 4 cable method ready so the user can dedicate 1 firmware engine to the front end FX while the other goes in the loop. In fact, make the pre effect an updated El Capistan tape delay algorithm and the post effect the DIG algorithm. And don't skimp out on the modulated delay capabilities.

These are the people that can do it. If enough of us tell them about it they will open their eyes. What a great point!

Also keep the user controls as analog "style" knobs intact with Strymon's traditional push/pull secondary feature sets. No LCD screens, menu systems, etc. A few killer easy access features is always better than scrolling through sub menu hell. Savable presets too.

Anyone bang on their door yet? Send an email with these ideas and it will pay off, can u imagine how nice this would be with just the ideas above?

Send the flood, by email🤘

I doubt that you will see a rack mounted anything from Strymon. Why would they invest the time and money into something that would have very limited sales? There is a reason that TC Electronic have discontinued most of their rack line for guitarists. They don't sell enough of them to be profitable. Artists who still tour with rack rigs are using the AFX III as their effects source. More and more you see professional stages with AFX, Kemper and Quad Cortex units on them as touring has become extremely expensive. Hell, the amp market is taking a nosedive to digital. I'm not happy about it, but that's just the reality of the situation. Just sayin...

Be more positive, the need for sales can come from many places. You aren't wrong but you never know and that is exactly why some solidarity might get us some of the above in a rack.

i hear you but the fact that fractal shows up in many modern rigs and rack preamps are alive and well means there’s still a demand.
if it sounds great and not too costly people will buy it.

I feel like there is a bit of a game of chicken going on, rackwise.

Today there is so much emphasis on the pedalboard, with booming markets in particular for recreations of rack-style effects and amp-in-box pedals. Big space station boards are becoming more common. At the same time, the playerbase is shifting away from live performance. So much of what we see now is stay-at-home hobbyists on social media.

Speaking from my own experience, I've never played live so my rig has always been for Madison Square Bedroom. And my pedalboard was getting so big that the advantages of rack starting winning out. A rack is easier to work on, doesn't have the same pressure to be "presentable", dialing things in on a rack is easier than stooping over a pedalboard. If my pedalboard never has to move anyway, then mobility isn't a factor in board vs. rack, and having my rack tucked in the corner with amp head on top, cabled up neatly, is just a lot more appealing than a massive pedalboard.

So I think the appeal of rack is definitely there, but the flipside of it is the only rack gear being manufactured is super expensive, so it becomes a big investment to make the jump (I myself am still hedging for now, using a FM9 on my board and gradually introducing more gear into the rack).

my live rig experiments changed so many times since my first alesis quad gt in 94 i lost count, but a rack effect has almost always been a part of the equation.

after 8 years with an 8 space triaxis stereo rig plus a 4 space rack for my 395, i did a reconnect to the roots palate cleanse with egnater TOL 100 half stack with mono pedalboard for a year, then turned that into a loaded/reamped stereo rig with an SKB PS-100 hybrid pedalboard-g force rack, then a Mojave Coyote halfstack, then W/D with Peacemaker and Tech 21 power engine.
used an Axe-Fx Ultra for a year.

even played once through just an ipad.
my last 3 years of live rig life was WDW and then ditching the speaker cabs and going in ears.

Should the email be addressed to Austin Linkous ?

Does the fact that they do so much Eurorack mean they have done a lot of what is necessary to convert a rack style release?
