Used a Randall RM50 head for this, and a Randall 2x12 cab.

Plexi MTS module I modded, then recorded with the recording out from the cab - no mic:

Ultra MTS module I modded, same thing as above - no mics, just ran a cable from my speaker cab recording out to my recorder:

I think I'm going to try the recording outs to the PA at the gig tonight, see how it does. Oh, and of course I added a little 'verb to the recording, so it didn't sound 'direct' - but that's the tone off the speaker cab simulated mic out. Guitar is a little loud on the paranoid clip, but what the heck. I'm pretty impressed, as it sounds a LOT like a miked cab to my tin ears.

All hail Bruce Egnater! :)

I just listened to that over on the MTS forum...love what you did with the Plexi...would never have guessed that was the recording out...in fact was going to ask what speakers u used...lols

Do you use a pre-amp / EQ on the signal?

You go for Normal, Bright or Dark ?

No preamp or EQ on the signal. Used the normal setting. I have that plexi gainwise close to a stock SL+. Cabinet sounds great too live, I just like the idea of always having the same basic tone coming off the amp to the recorder or the PA. No variables like is my mic off 5 degrees or am I miking it too close/too far/etc.

This is cool to hear. I have had the same cab for over a year now and never used the direct setting. I just liked the way the cab sounded through the speakers.

pretty impressive. I wouldn't have guessed if you hadn't said it wasn't miced.

Thanks guys. We'll see how it does at the gig tonight direct to the PA. ;)

That sounds great Pete! I was just listening to Peg in the car and thinking about your solo vid. Do you still have that hosted somewhere?

BTW, how much do these cabs cost? Do they make a 4x12?

Thanks man! I have a ton of youtube vids under the name okstrat... or on my myspace page (myspace.com/petesguitars)

The randall cabs sound really good too... nice and beefy. Not sure what they are new, I paid under $400 shipped for my 2x12. Egnater/Randall should sell the guts from their speaker sims in a box or sell the speaker jack plates!

Holy crap Pete!! That KICKED ASS!

Great playing there and really great sounding too.

Sounds very very cool, Pete - and thanks for the idea !

Totally 80's sounding, haha, not that it's bad... It sounds great actually. Great playing too.
