Raw Vintage RV-5760 Pickups vs. other '59 style PAFs

Hi everybody at rig-talk.com!

I need your help...

I am searching for the perfect '59 PAF set for a Gibson Les Paul. I know, there already have been some topics here as well as on other boards. But one company, that hasn't been mentioned that often (no matter if it was about humbuckers or single coils) is Raw Vintage. These pickups are DAMN expensive and I am wondering, if they really are worth the extra money towards pickups from especially Lollar, Fralin and Bareknuckle as well as others. I guess Dave Friedman likes Motor City Pickups for example, which is another company you don't hear a lot of.

I see, that some manufactures use Alnico II magnets (Raw Vintage for example), others use Alnico IV or V magnets for these kind of pickups and they all claim to have it perfectly right... ;-)

Regarding Raw Vintage: I have been offered a good deal, although they would still be more expensive than all the others. But I'd go for them, if they do kick that much ass. I know, it all comes down to personal taste and the best solution would be to try and try as much different types as possible, but I'd like to hear your two cents as well.

not sure. i stopped at dimarzio and SD after i found what i was looking for.

the PAF pro is a nice sounding pickup.
an sh-5 is kind of hot, but you can swap an alnico 2 mag in it and it cools the edge off it.
people love the 59bucker too from sd. i dont like alnico V mags.
 
When I'm looking for vintage style PAF I usually head to Manlius. Not too spendy, great tones. I know the guys at the Gear Page like WCR and a few others for that style as well. In fact some swear by the Duncan Antiquities. Lots of good options. I'm not familiar with Raw Vintage so no opinion.
 
Funny, that I've never looked for WCRs...

But I'm still looking forward to someones Raw Vintage experiences...
 
I just install a raw vintage bridge pickup and they are so sweet and bright. Before my strat have a humbucker bridge and sounds so boring but now I feel it as a new guitar.
Instantly creates SRV sound with a compressor and overdrive.
I am looking forward to change the bridge and middle pickup to raw vintage.
The only trouble is I need to install myself and I'm first timer in soldering stuffs but it was pretty easy changing the bridge pickup.
And just bought a 59's telecaster, even sound better than that...
I absolutely suggest raw vintage pickups.
 
Tim Shaw PAF's are my go-to for a vintage PAF style pickup...

I have a WCR Icebucker set in one of my guitars. Great pickups, and their customer service is as good as it gets!
