That's the info I heard. They were all huge AIC fans so they formed a cover band and used Godsmack for the name. Then they broke out with whatever that song was and it was off to the races.

The thing I don't understand about Gibson, and history proves it time and time and time again... Guys, make "perfectly replicated reissues" without anything different from the originals, which means - don't change the fingerboard wood, don't chamber/weight relieve, don't fuck with the electronics, don't fuck with the tuners, don't change the angle of the headstock, don't change the ply of the binding. In short - take all the years you made a killer guitar, mid 50s for your P90 loaded Lesters, late 50s for your Lesters, early 60s for your SGs, and throw in the odd Flying V and Explorer - and just make them as EXACT to the original spec as possible, and nothing else. Nothing. No change in colours, no change in anything. And goddamnit, maybe source our some true MOP or Abalone (yes, yes, the "endangered stuff") and just make guitars like they were.

I am positive things would be better if they'd just follow this simple business M.O.
