I gotta figure this out, and usually I am sufficiently tech savvy enough to make it by. But! I can't get the channel 4 out on the GRX to change channels on the 30. Do I need to be using a stereo cable??? Some body have the courage to run this one down and fill me in? I can't get it to go.

Cue Twilight Zone music - I just made this video today..

The video probably doesn't help you much, but I just thought it was ironic as hell that we were both working on the same thing.

Your answer is NO, TRS is NOT necessary, a standard TS will be fine, as switch Tip to Sleeve for channel select, and Ring to Sleeve for Reverb On/Off.

Also, is your GRX4 providing latching functions? Or momentary?? You will need latching.

Let me check. I thought I had set it to latching, but it did not work! Just in case I went ahead and configured all different options by powering up and selecting the LED combos. NONE of them worked. On occasion in a couple of teh settings, you could see it pop the channel selection on the amp for just a blip of a second and it would go right back to the other channel. I'll go check it again ina while and see. Thanks for the reply, mucho appreciated bro!

That would usually indicate they're switching momentarily. Do you have a meter? If you do and would like to see what your GRX4 is doing, put a TS cord into whatever CTL jack you're using, and then meter between the Tip & Sleeve while switching your presets.

Can you switch channels on the Rebel 30 with the factory footswitch? To verify the channel switching has not gone bad on your Rebel 30, just plug a TS cord into the footswitch jack, and then short the Tip & Sleeve together, like with a penny or screwdriver. It should switch to ch2.

Hey Klark,

I do havbe the GRX4 unit set to latching. The channel switching works great on the amp by itself. Front pannel and footswitch, no issues there. It is all about the GRX4. I set it to latching ... no go. At one point I got it to switch but no audio was coming out of Channel 1, switch it to two with the midi controller/GRX4 and whamo, second channel loud and clear  .

I can move the cable in and out of the loop four output on the GRX4 and at various levels of insertion it will activate the channel change on the amp.

Well it's definitely not the GRX4 that could have kept the audio from coming out of ch1 - That is not how channel switching circuits work. Unless, the GRX4 has damaged the channel switching circuit in the Rebel 30, but that is highly unlikely as there is zero voltage coming from the GRX4. It merely just makes contact.

Sounds to me like you have a bad cable or jack somewhere. The switching circuit in the Rebel is very sensitive, ONE strand of wire will cause it to switch, or not switch.

For the 2nd time, do you have a meter? You need to do two things with it..

1) Verify the GRX4 is actually switching
2) Check the cable you're using to go from the GRX4 to the Rebel 30 footswitch jack. And definitely shake the cable around a bit when testing it.
