Not the cheapest, but I've heard Aracom makes best ones out there. Anyone have personal experience with one?

Based on reviews, my vote would be the Fryette Power Station. Look that one up!!
I have one on the way...and when Dave Friedman is raving about it, it's worth a look. Plus it's also a 50 watt power amplifier with an FX loop. For $600?? Done and done.

Wait a minute, so you could also jam through this thing with a preamp pedal and power a cab?

Yes. Absolutely...you can load down an amp and go into a cab, or; simply use this as a standard power amp for W/D or like you asked about (preamp pedal or preamp). One or the other...

Check out the Joe Gamble video on YouTube:

I'm thinking an Axe-FX II with a Power Station and a 1X12 cab would be a killer portable rig.

Word. I wasn't aware of the Powerstation. It looks like an awesome unit. Also great that you can just use it like a portable 50W valve poweramp for plugging an MP3 player into etc.

Since I moved & my daughter was born, i've barely been able/allowed to get my VH4 out of first gear. This unit might well be my next serious purchase. It even has multi impedance in & outs which has been the drag with most attenuators.

Is there a catch?
