I've never boosted before, but I'd like to try it out!

I've got a Titan on the way, so that's what I'll be using.

I play da br00tals, and I'm looking for tight and pissed off, so what would you recommend I try?

Here's some that look good:

Digitech - Bad Monkey

Danelectro - Transparent Overdrive V2

Fulltone - Fat-Boost

Fulltone - OCD

Maxon - OD808

Maxon - OD-9

Maxon - OD-9 Pro+

Maxon - OOD-9

MXR - 10 Band EQ

I'm kind of leaning on the Bad Monkey right now 'cause it's cheap, and people seem to like it, so that may be the best place to start out, get my feet wet and see if I even like boosting or not.

I use 3 different boosts right now depending on the amp. I have a MXR Micro Amp, Cool Cat TOD, and a MXR 10 band EQ. I also own a Cool Cat Drive but the TOD kills it IMHO.

I sold a Bad Monkey after I tried the TOD. FWIW.

My suggestion would be the TOD to start. Under $50 brand new and has treble and bass adjustments. I use the Micro Amp as an always on pedal set at 1:00.

Yeah the CTO is amazing sounding at any price. I also have the Cool Cat Drive. Noisy as all hell. doent have the lowend and the output that the cto-1 has.

First of all, what amp are you going to boost?

The Bad Monkey really goes well with the Rectifier and I'm sure it'll go well with Marshall amps
of course. I would recommend these pedals based on experience.

1. OCD
2. Bad Monkey
3. Maxon OD808

I was thinking about getting an EQ for in front of my amp. Maybe I should just get the MXR 10 and use it for both an EQ and a boost.

An EQ into your amps input will add gain along with tone shaping. But in an effects loop you can use it as a volume boost for solos which is cool.

My favs are the Babrber Direct Drive and the Keeley modded SD-1

Can someone give me a rundown on the OCD? I'm thinking of grabbing one to boost my recto, but I'd like to keep it on at all times, even when going clean. Will this work, or is it a pretty dirty box even at minimal settings?

Danelectro Transparent Over drive.
Will make your tone sound HUGE!
I was using a Modded SD-1 and this thing KILLED IT!
We play mostly metal as well.
You cant go wrong with this bad boy!
I got it brand new for under 40 bucks!!
Check it out!

Man, some of those Cool Cat pedals sound killer just going by the clips on the Dano site. I especially like the TOD and Distortion. I would like to hear a TOD V2, anyone heard one yet? Looks like a really cool pedal.

Thanks, I'm checking into it!

Looks like the new version is about to drop!

Danelectro - Transparent Overdrive V2

the original one was a big SCANDAL since it was a TIMMY pedal clone.
Not sure about the Version 2.
I have the original and it DOES SOUND GREAT!!
Snag one of them!

I am using with my Marshall right now a Fulltone FatBoost 2. Can't find much in it on YouTube but you can get them fairly cheap on Ebay and I just love mine. I use it only for solos however, but it helps me cut right through the mix. I love that you can just adjust the Treble and Bass as well as gain and volume. I've also used in the past the Xotic BB Preamp that I also liked, but my band mate is using mine at this time. So I would recommend either or.

I have V3 and it won't work...it'll still be pretty dirty.

The OCD is pretty hairy. As long as you are not going for crystal cleans, it would be cool. Another good one for the rectos is the OD808.
