I need a tap tempo and I like the idea of having a couple of different patches available. I'm not a big fan of the giant footprint pedals but it seems that's the way I have to go to get what I'm looking for. Right now . The TC x4 has my eye. What say you ?

I borrowed a Flashback X4 from my buddy for a couple of practices. It's very cool. I didn't have a chance to really dig into it, but i set up 3 usable patches that sounded really good on the fly. Tap tempo in a delay pedal is essential, IMHO. I'm getting one for myself as soon as I can. And yes, it's huge!

Save up for the Strymon Timeline!!! It's really really good!!!

exactly

It's going to be one of the classic delay machines in another 20 years. It's not really that big. Keep an eye out in the TGP classifieds as I found they usually have great deals on them. I purchased mine last year from there. The seller bundled it with a Midi controller. I wound up selling the controller at a great price, ultimately paying $175 for the Timeline.

I'm thinking of picking up a Boss DD-20. I liked the Flashback X1 that I had, so maybe thinking of the X4 version, but the X1 version felt like I was going to break that switch every time I stepped on it. Maybe it was just in my head.

I still want to try an X4. Looks like a better version of the DL4. The Nova Delay is another good choice.

I got the TC Electronics Flashback, not the big X4.
Works great, and doesn't color the tone when it's active and inactive, true bypass.
It has a tap tempo function too.
Sized like an average pedal.

Keep an eye out on amazon and ebay and you can get a new one for $129, that's what I paid.
PM me and I'll give you the retailers name where I got it from, if you're interested.

i have a el capistan and the flash back. If the timeline delays are as good if better than what in the el cap than it should blow the flashback out of the water.

For a 450$ unit, the Timeline felt pretty cheap, especially the knobs.
No way should this thing sell for 400$ used... 300$ is more like it
I got rid of mine and got a Diamond Memory Lane Jr.

I have a timeline and it sounds amazing !!
My only complaint is that you can do so much with it you need a degree to really use it !
So many options !!!
I just wanna play !!!

#1-well if money isnt an object,..the moog analog delay is head and shoulders above the rest,..every option you could think of any many more,..u can control everything with an expression pedal or on/off switch,...i like to ramp it in and out,..the expression pedal lets ya do this,..

#2-the EH memory man is also analog,..with an expression pedal option as well

Hardwire DL-8. Great pedal for the price. Tried one through a EVH Stealth and sounded great.

I just sold my Timeline. Why? Because for a $400 dollar pedal I was using only dbuckt or tape. For me, I want the ability to tap tempo AND use and expression pedal for delay mix level. I found with those 2 controls at my feet I won't need presets. I found a regular Boss DD7 can fit my needs well.

I use a Carbon Copy. It's probably one of the most understated analog delay pedals on the market. I've not switched it out for several years.

The Timeline is probably the best delay you can buy at the moment.

I have a FB x4 and the reguar FB. Love them.

Yes i do use some toneprints.

Im the only guitarist in my band. I use an Aldrich or Stevens toneprint on the X4 to add depth to my sound.

Then i have a setting on the FB gor clean picking parts to add some color.

Works for me!!

I just returned my X4 because … IT WAS SOOOOOOO DAMN BIG! Took up a lot of real estate on my board. I went with the Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe.

Prymaxe has them with 15% off. Full midi, tap tempo and more cost effective than the Timeline (which is what I originally wanted).
