"a bright guitar and wicked bright amp"Aristocat":2bt69ec5 said:MichaelG":2bt69ec5 said:Aristocat":2bt69ec5 said:Wade said I should try the Detroiter.
I was just going add a +1 for the detroiter; Wade's recommendations are usually always right on. The detroiter has got some extra magic in the mids, and its nice and tight in the low-end. Not *exactly* a P.A.F per se but it overdrives an amp more than it's 12KOhm winding might infer, as doe the 2nd deg. blackbelt.
He said it's 9.2K roughly.
PAF territory is good enough for me.

"I want to keep the P.A.F feel and vibe but get a little more output and something that's darker and fatter too but with the usual ripping mids."
Wade is spot on here, like he's always been when he's recommended me a pickup. Honestly, I can't imagine a situation begging more for the Detroiter than what you just described![]()
. It has one of the best top ends out there imo. It cuts through, but is never shrill. It's got just enough fatness to it, but it's still nice and open. The mids aren't over-the-top aggressive to the point of killing versatility, but they are definitely pissed-off sounding when your rig is dialed in that way. One of my favorites.
