So although I love my WCR Godwood, with a bright guitar and wicked bright amp it's becoming overkill. Even running the Presence/Treble both at 5 it's still too much.

I'm currently interested in the following:

MCP 2nd Degree BB
MCP T-Rex
MCP Detroiter
BK VHII
BK Rebel Yell

I want to keep the P.A.F feel and vibe but get a little more output and something that's darker and fatter too but with the usual ripping miss. The Godwood is at 9.2K but that's relative.

Let me know!

Why only "boutique" pickups you tone snob?

Because I'm worth it.

In all seriousness, I tried a bunch of Duncan/DiMarzio/etc over the years and I've only ever dug my WCR. Trying to branch out now.

Need something dark and fat but with output between 9-12K.

Amalfitano Barrybucker is outstanding. Ask Jerry to do his magik potting for you. Does not affect tone. A Skatterbrane BenWa set is flat out awesome. The best neck pickup I ever tried. I have owned allot of Bareknuckles and a Godwood and many others.

You have the benefit of using one main guitar and amp, so it must be easier to focus on finding the perfect pickup for that combo.
If ever you find a Dimarzio Norton for cheap, that would be my pick, unless you want to go ceramic

I dig the Norton but never fell in love with it.

Ah I see, you're the type of guy that sees gear like a monogamous relationship
"There can be only one"
And it has to be the right one ;)

Six years with my best friend in the world.

You've got me figured out

Bright guitar? Try a SD custom custom. If you just have to spend extra on Boutique, MCP Blister bucker or Black Iron. Little hotter than what you're asking for but will do what you want.
Dimarzio tone zone is another good one.
MCP Awyafu will do it also but comes with tons of output and bass.

I love the Rebel Yell. However, it may be too hot for what you described. And it's not really PAF-esque.

My choice would be a Skatterbrane Metalbrane set. They are thicker sounding than the MCP Detroiter. And warmer/darker than your Godwood.

I checked out Skatterbrane. I wasn't nuts about them.

It's tough to find clips of PAF style buckers going through modded Marshalls.

I think MCP may be my ticket.

P90's.. after a life with great humbuckers...BKS's I just got an el cheapo LP studio with P90's. OMFG that tone rules.

The Rio Grande BBQ is close to what you describe, but everything will make a minute difference :)
I liked it because of the reasons you list, and I've never heard a Strat sound fatter than with the BBQ

Holydiver for sure. They're great in a bright guitar.

Got my first set in my recently acquired NT7.... GREAT pups!!! Super versatile, clean up great, have a vintage kinda vibe but are seriously punchy, raw, and smooth all at the same time. GREAT all round pups with a slight bent on heavier angles of music.

To the OP though? Riff Raffs for vintage vibe with bite, BlackDogs for gobs of personality.
