I built a VH1 guitar with warmoth parts a few years back. I love the guitar but find myself not playing as much because of the having just a one pickup configuration on it and with the band, I really need two. So, I decided that I will change the pickguard to a two pickup configuration - either a stacked humbucker or full humbucker at the neck and ful size humbucker at the bridge. I believe the guitar is made out of alder with a mapple neck. What would you guys recommend if this was your guitar? I'm willing to try anything.

Here's a video of my VH1

Seymour Duncan '78 in the bridge? Uhmm... maybe Duncan 59 in the neck?

I have a Dimarzio Cruiser which I really like. Not exactly VH tone, but it nails andy timmons... LOL! :D

Get a set of the new Fender VH pickups, they are great and I think they can nail his tone with the right amp.

I have a Duncan JB in my VH1 replica, and a Duncan EVH in my VH2 replica. For front PU depends on which direction you go w/ the bridge pu, to recommend a compliment for the neck-- to maintain a good balance between the 2.

SD 78/EVH. It's what Eddie used. I have one in my Frankie and it's great.

Try a SD Cool Rails at the neck or the SD Jazz humbucker. Can't go wrong with either of those.

How about Bare Knuckle pickups? I really like the tone that I hear from some of them.
