Cool  Congrats, and glad you dig it.And like me i prefer the orange over the red,the red is bad, sounds to bright
and harsh. My latest DR doesn't have the red channel, only orange and clean.
I always preferred the Red channel. The orange channel sounds too cardboard boxy/thuddy/etc in the mids and I can never get it to not sound like that.

As far as red, I keep the presence on 0, and the treble around noon-2oclock. Perfect in not being too bright or harsh, but enough it doesn't sound like it is under a pillow...

well after spending a day with the amp at killer volumes ive decided i dont jive with the 50 watt power section, in tandem my other amps all make it seem small which makes perfect sense.

ill be pulling a "mailman" and selling this asap in order to move up to the dual for the added headroom.

anyone want it for the $800 plus shipping i paid for it pm me.

When I read your first post I really wanted to tell you exactly that but didn't want to shit on your party. You figured it out on your own pretty quick though!

I had one of these and the 50 watt power section shits the bed extremely fast. Loosest amp I have ever owned.

yeah just one of those things i guess, i love it until its really loud which is how i like to play.

live and learn.

Did you get a chance to try 34's in it?
I'm assuming you can do that on the 50 watters, I have not had one

My thoughts EXACTLY, I bit my tongue as well. You will appreciate the Dual Rec much more I think

Yup....the amp sounded GREAT at low to medium volumes....
crank it to GIG LEVEL....they fall apart.
:(

I was going to get the Dual rec to replace mine as well....but talked with Jerry at FJA and decided on getting the 5150 and have him do the 120 watt Metal Mod to it....
It crushes the Recto I had by him.

Check that option out as well.

What he said. I played a 50 watter for awhile and picked up a dual rec in a trade. The first gig with the dual I got all kinds of questions about what I did with my set up; it sounded that much better. You owe to yourself to try a dual or a triple rec. Blows the single out of the water. That said, the Einstien I had sent both of them packing :D

Yeah so far none of my amps can compete with einy!

I'd recommend a couple of things.
1st, go Dual over Triple.
The Sheer volume of the Triple is massive, and too massive for lots of situations, and it takes just a little more to get to the sweet spots.
As soon as you get it, toss in JJ EL34L's.
Also try an MXR 10 band EQ in the effects loop. almost flat, with a very very mild tweak and increase in gain as a boost tightens things up so much it's amazing.
finally, i know it'll be more expensive...but if you get one of the "pre-500" Recto's, you will be rewarded with pure Tone...and no Buzziness.
I've had 5 or 6 different Recto's over the years, and the only I will never sell is my pre-500.
Hoff has one for sale, but wants quite a bit o $$$...but I'd bet that would put anything else you tried to shame, but would sound amazing.

otherwise, just get any Dual Recto and save some money.
They all sound similar, 2ch. older units slightly better than 3ch. units, 2010 slightly better than other units, but none as good as pre-500.
they are so similar, from my experience in owning so many of them, that it really matters very little in the end.

then, try this. ch.2 red (or 3, depending on your amp), Modern, silicone, Bold, el34L's,
gain @ 1, Mid @ 3, Treble @ 1-2, Pres @ 12, Bass @ 10:30, Master past 10.

good luck!

I think as easily as Recto's can sound buzzy, they can just as easily can not.
