I'd recommend a couple of things.
1st, go Dual over Triple.
The Sheer volume of the Triple is massive, and too massive for lots of situations, and it takes just a little more to get to the sweet spots.
As soon as you get it, toss in JJ EL34L's.
Also try an MXR 10 band EQ in the effects loop. almost flat, with a very very mild tweak and increase in gain as a boost tightens things up so much it's amazing.
finally, i know it'll be more expensive...but if you get one of the "pre-500" Recto's, you will be rewarded with pure Tone...and no Buzziness.
I've had 5 or 6 different Recto's over the years, and the only I will never sell is my pre-500.
Hoff has one for sale, but wants quite a bit o $$$...but I'd bet that would put anything else you tried to shame, but would sound amazing.
otherwise, just get any Dual Recto and save some money.
They all sound similar, 2ch. older units slightly better than 3ch. units, 2010 slightly better than other units, but none as good as pre-500.
they are so similar, from my experience in owning so many of them, that it really matters very little in the end.
then, try this. ch.2 red (or 3, depending on your amp), Modern, silicone, Bold, el34L's,
gain @ 1, Mid @ 3, Treble @ 1-2, Pres @ 12, Bass @ 10:30, Master past 10.
good luck!
