I was thinking the same thing.

I like the RDC song - can't help but feel like the guitar needed to be a little louder in the mix though, but then I guess that's a guitar player's perspective...

I think the guitars would have sounded/cut much better recorded with an old Marshall instead of an EVH amp...

Who says he recorded with an EVH just because it is in the video? I thought he said he keeps those at home or for studio use..

And live use...? Not much is on stage behind him except his 5153 and 2 cabs

Man I just do NOT like it. Not sure why. Not terrible but certainly not digging it.

Yeah, I'm not into it at all, no matter how hard I try.....

Well that I know because he felt the 5153 were more consistent tone wise night to night... recording vs a video though, doesn't mean the head and recording line up!

another song that i wanted to like but just couldn't. and yeah, it's a little too much like Bark at the moon. the singer just ain't cuttin it for me either. of all of the guys Jake could have chosen, why this guy?

I really dig it. The song flat out rocks  I actually like the vocals on this recording and I thought the solo was very interesting (in a good way ;) ). On the other hand, the bass player needs a Red Bull

Some thoughts pertaining to previous posts:
1.) How can you blame the amp for making the guitar in the back of the mix on a studio recording?
2.) JEL stated in a recent interview that he still records with Marshalls and he uses the EVH live because it is consistent. Why would anyone assume the amp that an artist plays live is what he uses for recordings?

Yeah, I downloaded the tune from iTunes when it came out.
I can't get into it either. I tried. Just nothing there for me to dig.

I'll probably buy the whole album when it comes out and give it a listen.

Not bad. I dig it for the most part and at moments I'm lost. The singer isn't doing it for me but Jake is rocking and that's great.

Pretty rad tune! It was totally formulaic, but that's the point… easy to grab onto. Killer, interesting solo.
Did it seem to anybody else like there was a little out of tune-ness happening with the guitars?
