I like the song...but...yeah...the guitar riff??? at the moon it barks it does
 
I can tell you for a fact that the EVH was not used during recording. He used his old Marshalls and an old Orange amp that he loves, along with some pedals.

I think the guitars would have sounded/cut much better recorded with an old Marshall instead of an EVH amp...

In an interview he said he used his old Marshalls on the CD and not the 5153. He said he uses the 5153 live because it's consistent and sounds good.
 
Liked the singer on the chorus, kind of had a Cult vibe there. On the verses, not so much. I'll have to give the album a listen. Maybe there's a Rumblin' Train on there!
 
I like it, it's better than a lot of crap that's being released now days!
 
What a letdown. I love Jake........especially Badlands. But this song borderlines on "suck" to me. Hopefully the rest of the album is much better.
 
Don't like it at all. Sounds like BATM riff. I'll go see him when he tours in a few weeks, but not for this shit.... :doh:
 
I like it. Is is better than the Ozzy or Badlands stuff? Nope not even close, but it is still good IMO!!!
 
Don't like the singer. Riff is very BATMish. It's not bad ,it's just I was hoping for something to really knock my socks off. I'm really glad Jake is back, let's hope he stays.
 
Not a huge fan of the singer....still good to see some new Jake E Lee music! \m/
 
I'm down. It's very raw in your face rock. Sorely missed these days. I'll be buying the disc when it comes out.
 
I like it. It's not great by any means. I've got tickets for his show here in Houston and my old band that I was in for 20+ years is opening for them :doh: I do not like the singer. The pre chorus and chorus sound pretty good but I don't like him on the verses at all.
 
I am in. Not a huge fan of the singers voice but don't hate it either. I agree on the bass player needing a Red Bull comment!

The solo was interesting but at least in a good way. Not cookie cutter and it took a couple unconventional turns. I will buy the disc when it comes out.
 
Wasn't this album recorded from riffs and songs he had from like the last 20yrs? If so, that is why this sounds like BATM. Be glad you have something from Jake and stop crying like little bitches. I mean really. I am just happy to get a crumb. Van Halen's last album was the same kind of thing and wound up being pretty damn good. There really is nothing original anymore. If the worst thing you can say is that the guy wrote a song that sounds like a song he wrote, then I guess you have very little to complain about, especially when the original was fucking AWESOME. That said, this singer sucks balls in every live video I've seen and barely cuts it here, but is passable. I would have loved to have seen Jake with someone as good as him.

this for me......I hear a bit of mandy lion with darren, so maybe that is where jake is heading (lets face it wicked alliance never got off the ground and was also way ahead of its time)

Jake has said in interviews that the riff was very bark at the moon and he was at first a bit against using it but then thought it was a good kinda "i'm back" thing so went with it.

I find it kinda funny that people seem to want him to reinvent the wheel with his new music :doh: ...I want jake to be jake and from the little I have heard so far this is a pretty damn good place to start

Agreed, the first verse thing out of his mouth makes me repel
As for BATM similarities, what were people expecting? Of course it will sound like that, it's his thing :confused:
That's kind of the reason we all like him. Would you want something different like drop Gb or playing Euro-Renaissance music :lol: :LOL:
