Rehoused my Decimator G String, made it into a patch bay

I posted this a while back on another forum, but I figured I'd share it here too.

A few months ago, I built a noise gating patch bay out of a 1590BB enclosure, the guts of an ISP Decimator G String, and a few additional jacks. I routed it to be able to use the Decimator in 4 cable mode while running my fuzz and OD pedals in front of my amp and my other pedals through the loop. I just plug my guitar straight into my tuner pedal and plug all my other cables from the patch bay to my amp's input and loop send/return. My American Loopers switcher also has a channel switching function, so I have a patch to route its channel switching jack to the Channel 1 relay jack on the back of my Recto. I bypassed the on/off swithch so it's always on. I mounted it underneath my board with bike chain links and screws, and I put the Decimator's knob on the back panel so it's hidden between my Analogman chorus and Mad Professor reverb. I also made a color-coded snake to make setup even easier.

This is too complex for me since I have no idea what this is but doesn't the G string allow you to do this anyway with the 2 i/o? What is the difference?

The G String in its stock form can gate from in front and in the loop, but with the extra connections basically route it in and out of the American Loopers switcher and the amp's loop. It allows me to use my switcher and still keep my dirt pedals out front and my tremolo, chorus, delay, and reverb in the loop and makes setup simpler, all while still killing noise. I could do it without the Decimator, but I'd have to plug cables in all over in different spots on the board.

Plus being able to mount it underneath gives me room for more pedals on top

That is just a little bit badass!! Nice work man. Quick question, who makes the 1/4" angled connectors you're using, and do you like them?

Thanks man! They're actually the old Planet Waves Cable Station cables and plugs. I've been using them for years with no issues. The plugs I used for my cable snare are Amphenol plugs

Being a gate freak,I gotta say that's some cool shite right there! Dig it!!

Thats freakin Bada$$! I'd be interested in purchasing something like that. You should make a couple more and flip them. I bet I'm not the only one that could use one of those.

Thanks guys!

I've thought about contacting ISP about putting something like this in production (or Boss with the NS-2). It would be too much effort to buy up a bunch of Decimators or NS-2s to rehouse and sell. If someone asked me to rehouse theirs for them or for help on how to do their own, I'd be happy to help them out
