Hi all, the low E tuning peg on my prized 1981 Les Paul is just flat out refusing to tune up, I'm comfortable replacing it myself, however I'm having some trouble trying to figure out what type of tuner I can use as a replacement without having to drill a hole. Does anyone have any idea what kind of tuners fit the proverbial mold? Here's a picture of the back of the headstock so y'all know what I'm talking about...

Given the position of those screw holes i think schaller locking should go just fine...try to figure out peghole dimensions or you would end up drill them...

PS: every manufacturer has in depth dimension of their tuners on their websites

Schaller definitely. I've replaced the tuners on my '76 Cst. with Schallers, but used those with the "bean shaped" wings, Grover like, you know...

Bet you $5 that all you have to do is pop the dust cover off (where it says "Gibson") and tighten the pinion gear.
