You won't be disappointed. Just keep in mind it dials in very differently from the Twin Jet!
Coolio. Will play around a bit more today. I love the 2nd channel, and I am 100% positive the new glass is needed. But man, the amp itself is pristine. I'll go with your bottle recommendations for sure, but will do so in a years' timeDeath by Uberschall":1qjk0q0r said:The Presence knob for channel 2 is the key.
Run the channel 1 volume all the way up and use the gain knob as the volume control, works great.
I'm running these:
V1 Tung-Sol RI
V2 Chinese 9th
V3 Chinese 9th
V4 JJ ECC803
V5 Chinese 9th balanced
V6 Chinese 9th balanced
V7-10 JJ E34L or EL34
This combo works, trust me on this.
I'm keeping my Purple TJ, that amp and I have a special bond - and FWIW - it sounds incredible.strata2628":1qjk0q0r said:awesome amps. way better than the twin-j in my opinion.
I won't have time to re-tube this thing, but I am definitely going to get to it upon my return. I can't even try it through the UberKab, as it's all boxed up in my garage and my home is a shitshow of packing right now... It's madness. No sense unloading it when it's getting all loaded.Death by Uberschall":3njjzkob said:You'll love it. That combo sounds great. Those V1 and V4 locations open up the sound of the clean channel with those tubes. V1 also improves the gain channel a little.
About 8' behind where I'm typing from.leib10":10wvi0be said:So... where is it?![]()

I've been reading alot of these threads about the Rev 2 Uberschalls and I decided to take the plunge and buy one myself (#165). Everything that I've read about this amp is true. Crazy Heavy, very aggressive, articulate and downright mean. The guy that sold me the amp was very candid about the fact that the tubes in the amp were old and tired, but in all honesty it still sounds awesome. The main reason that I started looking for another amp was that I really wanted something with a true clean channel. For the past few years I was making my Twin Jet's first channel pass for a clean and it worked "ok" but I really missed having an actual clean channel and kinda need one for the type of music that my band plays. I was pleasantly surprised at the Rev 2's clean channel, despite many posts stating that it was nothing special, I felt that the channel sounded great, particularly when I added some modulation and delays to it. The volume discrepancy was pretty easy to overcome by maxing out the clean channel's volume and using the gain knob to bring it up to be equal to the distortion channel as stated in a previous post. Lastly, many people describe the amp as loose...while the TJ to me definitely feels tighter, I find the Rev 2 to be far from loose. The Rev 2 feels very easy to play in comparison to the Twin Jet and it seems as though the amp expresses what my hands are doing much more accurately. I cant wait to throw some new tubes in it and post a follow up review. All in all, as much as I love my Twin Jet...I think its going to get a lot less playing time.

Welcome aboard!! Can I ask - where'd ya get the amp? What shape is it in? Any pics?jcattell":21yp4v96 said:I decided to join the Rev 2 Club!
My TJ ain't going nowhere. That purple thingy they did to it has made it pretty spectacular. I love it.leib10":21yp4v96 said:SLOGriff and I had another jam session yesterday, and we brought along the Rev 2 and the Twin Jet. We found that Channel 1 on the TJ is very, very close to where to the Rev 2 is. That being said, we both really love both amps. Both bring something different to the table. The Twin Jet is a bit more articulate, has better note separation, and is more modern sounding. The Rev 2 is more organic, midrangey, but evil and darker. Both are awesome amps that are unique in their own way. I wouldn't say one is better than the other.
