If you have a Superlead then that compared to the 2204 but not boosted, both amps straight in, both cranked or really close to it. Was playing my ‘80 2204 like that today (with EQ boost at times) and loving it. Touch a note and it blooms into feedback, tight and crunchy af.

I don’t man. But last one I had, I did a bunch of A/Bing and was able to get the 2204 to do the plexi thing extremely convincingly. Close enough to the point that I would forget which I was playing, make a guess, and be wrong. Bass and treble backed down, mids up, volume….get ya damn close

Yeah it’s amazing once they are cranked they sound very similar and the other knobs hardly do much anyway.

Cameron is a 70s JMP Superlead with the Low Gain/High Gain Jose. It is in high gain mode here and not boosted. This amp actually has an addition gain/aggression switch that is not engaged for this video.

The Rev F Rectifier is loaded with EL34s and is on the red channel modern. It is being boosted by a BB Preamp

Surprised to hear the Cameron was more polished. In a blind test I’d guessed the Cameron was a Friedman just because of how aggressive the dual rectifier is.

Cameron sounds more studio polished and ready to go as is - dual rectifier sounds as though it would need more post recording EQ.

That Cameron is my favorite of the ones I’ve played. Can do lower and mid gain tones all the way up to tight metal. It has an additional mode that I didn’t engage for this video that tightens it up and makes it more aggressive - probably best for more down tuned stuff as it can be a little bit too attacky for my style. But the amount of low end available on this thing is silly. I have the bass boost on the back essentially off or just barely cracked on

As usual it depended on the riff but overall I preferred the DR. The Cameron just had a blanket over it comparatively but those last riffs the DR was a little too much top.

i don’t know if you’ve seen the Doug Aldrich tone talk episode but he said something along the lines of the Cameron sounded great on its own, but put it in a band mix and it didn’t work for him
