Today I received my second purchase in a row from reverb, that was listed in “excellent” condition.

And then it shows up in S&&T condition.

And the seller will say that I’m responsible for return shipping.

And the seller will say “it must have happened in shipping” so that he can fall back on Reverbs “shipping protection program”.

And now reverb will try to get me to take a partial refund to shut me up.

It’s getting to the point where you can’t trust anything at all anymore.

How is any of this Reverb's fault?
- did you look at pictures of the item? Did you request more if you couldn't see enough?
- did you talk to the seller before hand? This is easy to request.
- did the seller have 100% positive feedback with at least 10 sales?
- only item I ever had returned, Reverb sent the buyer the return shipping label and they ate the cost.

Keep all those Heritages here in the Midwest where they belong! No need to sell on Reverb! You just never stop bringing the GAS!!!

If the item is ‘not as advertised’ then it’s on the seller. Doesn’t matter how many sales the guy has.

Agreed, but a lot of 100% + usually means something advertised as 'excellent' doesn't show up in 'shit condition'.
But if it's bogus then contact Reverb. Send pictures/issues of the item you received to them.
They always side with the buyer if it's a legit beef.

I sold a Suhr Strat as mint (it was). The buyer opened it up and visually realized the stock neck pup had been replaced.
He wanted a 100% refund even though I offered to pay for an authorized Suhr dealer to put a Suhr pup back in.
My argument with Reverb was: Are sellers suppose to dis-assemble mint guitars and amps before being able to sell
them as MINT?

I've heard all manner of complaints - I've pulled back from selling on Reverb due to Etsy's new policies, and furthermore, I know enough people now to get what I need where I need it if I'm in a purchasing mood. I'd say Reverb is still a good place to promote your product, eBay is 50/50, and members classifieds are always banger as at least here - or TGP or whatever forum it may be - people have cred, and they tend to wanna maintain that cred.

Let us know how this plays out though.
Good luck.

Problem is, in your case I'd bet the buyer just didn't like the guitar, which isn't a reason to return it...but he used the neck pup as the excuse. Sad but true. Much prefer selling stuff here or Craigslist.

I feel you, OP. Here’s my Lexicon MPX-G2 that arrived recently from Reverb. The longest dimension of the box used to ship was UNDER 19 inches.

When I buy on Reverb, I'm starting to expect that sh*t will arrive broken. I have better luck with the forums.

I moved it at a good price and I think he was a flipper. It was a really nice Suhr and he knew a lot about them.
He admitted he liked the guitar but he wanted 100% mint. I get the feeling if it had been an amp he would have
returned it if he found a mod inside too.

People are a joke, Reverb just enables them to get away with it. 100% feedback means nothing these days. Sure, many are legit, but many are turds.

I have yet to buy or sell anything on there but this thread doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies about it.

I'm doing fine with it! Both buying and selling. Do your due diligence and you'll be good.
Thanks. That makes sense. I have sold some amps and gear on eBay but it has been some time. It seems there are more and more niche places to sells things now (discogs for records, reverb for instruments and gear, etc,)

I had the exact same issue with an IntelliFX rack unit. Bend ear and the seller said it happened in postage... it wasn't in the photos. I eventually had to use a mace and cloth to gently bend it back into place

The real problem here is, a lot of people, (not all, but a lot) are just shitty humans.

Sellers trying to slip one past you, hoping you won't notice/care - then playing dumb when you call them out on the issue.
Buyers wanting everything free, and wanting it yesterday.

This isn't something that's exclusive to Reverb.
Reverb, ebay, forums... they're all the same.
100% correct. It's people in general.
