So I list a guitar. It sells, forced to use Reverb payment source only, and the best part. Reverb says I receive payment once the item has been delivered. I guess everyone is overjoyed doing this, I sure as hell ain't.

Is this your first sell there? Payment should be released once you provide a tracking number. Usually takes about 24 hours after you provide tracking.

I never update tracking through them. I leave them out and disregard them and deal directly with my buyers. You telling us they don't allow payment through PayPal now?

Why would you do that?

Exactly that! Of course they are nice enough to let you buy with paypal cause they damn sure ain't missing no sale. But you can not sell with paypal. Part that kicks me is if I look at my listing it had multiple payment options for a buyer. Paypal being one of them, yet I can't use paypal. So I guess they take the paypal payment then pay the seller thru reverb funds. Horse shit is all I can say. Ymmv.
For everyone that hates paypal maybe this is the grail. For me personally i ain't dropping off a guitar at fedex without being paid! Try winning that long drawn out dispute pain in the ass if there is an issue in shipping. Oh and maybe call any online dealer and tell them you will pay them as soon as the item is shipped. This is better than ebay! Lmmfaool

Then I'm done with them. I don't see any reason to include Reverb beyond the transaction. I'm a big boy and can handle the proper correspondence responsibility on my own. Why would I need my hand held...I always back my deals %1000 I don't feel like I answered this clearly. After the transfer and shipping has taken place I always contact my buyer and give them the tracking information directly and see no reason to follow Reverbs protocols afterward because it makes no sense when I was already a step ahead of them. Never had issue one yet.

Had sold many times previously and payment was received instantly thru my paypal.account. I dont care if it is 1st time only. It isnt smart on any sellers basis is all I'd stand by. A seller should be paid before he even boxes the damn thing up imho. Must provide a tracking number to get paid" u can print a tracking number and never drop.off the shipment , so in my opinion its bs. Maybe give them credit for trying something but this sure as hell ain't it.Ymmv

This^! If you are a good seller then this is pretty simple philosophy. Agree 100%

Read my edit too...this is total bullshit fuck them.

Exactly! This shit ain't hard. I dont get how selling gear is so difficult, obviously reverb wants to be as greedy as possible and force sellers into a no win situation. Not much protection and the sellers job to sort out any and all complicated issues that could possibly occur. I can guarantee reverb isnt springing a nickle to resolve anything going south.

News to me... I have 124 transactions, sold a PS-2 last week. Shipped same day, had funds the next. Unless you're a newb seller, I'm guessing it doesn't to everyone. Ebay did this a few years back. They kept your money until delivered, and then some. Up to 3 weeks. I stopped selling there 5-6 years ago when they started that shit. I had over 100 transactions there, and suddenly they didn't trust me.

Guess I'm confused on what's going on as I do have a PayPal but I sold a guitar just yesterday on Reverb. It was my first local only sale and agreed to meet the guy.

He paid Saturday and the funds were available immediately before we even met up and before he marked received.

Side note to anyone doing local only on Reverb. Be sure the buyer marks received before he leaves with the item.

So you were paid the following day after you shipped the item? Seems you'd be paid before shipping anything, obviously people are down with this. I ain't nor will I ever be. Checks in the mail logic"

Not sure about doing a local sale maybe payment is instantaneous cause they want there 3.5% all I know is they wanted me to ship a guitar 3 states over and receive payment after it arrives, why the fuck would i do that? I could drive it over and be paid instantly and not pay shipping or there cheese dick fees.Honestly I cant understand why anyone would do that. Maybe I need to call sweetwater and get some gear sent to me.. hell I can pay for after it arrives..??? Seriously wacked

Payment was initiated the day I posted tracking. Technically, I had the funds before the item shipped. I typically buy a UPS label through Reverb, (it's way cheaper), and it automatically posts the tracking, upon selling. They pay me when tracking is posted. Sure, I could post tracking and not physically ship it for a day or two, (but never do). I ship within 24 hours, 99% of the time.

I guess that's not SO bad. Do they sell fedex too? I get 2 day shipping for about 40 bucks for 3 states over. Its work related. However my payment wasnt being received until delivery was made. Damn that 1st time or not. Not a chance I am taking on a 5k instrument..

You can pick if you want to accept reverb payments or paypal only when you set up your shop. I just confirmed both options are still available in my shop settings as well.

If you accept reverb payments, payment will be released to your bank acct. once you post tracking. Think of it this way, reverb payments is a transactional system similar to escrow. This way buyer and seller are protected, seller gets no money until evidence "something" has shipped is entered into the system so buyer is protected in that they paid for "something". Seller is protected because now their is a transaction record that they "shipped" "something". As with all transactional systems, the system has to have a prompt to take an action. Posting tracking is the prompt that "shipping" has occurred and funds can be released. Dont post tracking and you are waiting, whether you already shipped or not, cus reverb didnt get the tracking transaction it was expecting in order to release funds.

Rules, laws or whatever you wanna call them are not put in place for the "good citizens". They put in place so that the consequences of breaking them provide a deterrent for the "bad citizens" to break them...

These threads always remind me of why I hate selling gear, and it has nothing to do with Reverb...
