Hopefully I can help ya out. For its size and flexibility I think it’s a killer “little” amp. I used to have a Generator 120 MK3 and surprisingly the green was my favorite channel. When they announced the G50 and the founder said the green was his favorite on this amp I figured I’d downgrade.
You’ll probably get some Revv haters on here but honestly you gotta try it for yourself. I think they make solid gear. The G50 has 3 really usable channels and covers a ton of ground. The noise gate is one of the best out there and the aggression modes along with the fat/cut/bright controls on the purple channel give you a lot of options. The only weak point for me is the reverb but I use pedals anyway.
It’s a very modern sounding amp and I’d almost call Revv the Canadian Mesa Boogie for this generation of guitarists. You get a lot of amp for the money.
What sorts of tones you going for? Also the purple on the G50 sounds way better boosted. Did some A/Bing with a Bonsai, Red Dirt and Precision Drive this past week. If you can get one cheap I’d say it’s worth a shot. It’s not a 5150, or a Recto. It’s very much a Revv. They have their own sound going on and you either like it or don’t.
