Hello, I am very interested to buy an Art AR5 active ribbon mic to record electric guitar. But I stay in an apartment and I use a modded randall isocab...

One of the advantages to recording with an isocabinet is the ability to record high volume even in apartment but high volume equals high pressures

and in a closed environment like an isocabinet I would not like to damage the mic...

the Max SPL for this mic is 150dB (1kHz @ 1%THD).

My amp is a marshall mini Jubilee.

So do you think it is safe to put a ribbon mic in a isocab?

Thanks Jeff!

The ART AR5 mic with the Mini Jube will be fine in your iso cab. The 150db spl rating is actually a very robust spec.

Since you are in Canada, also check out the Apex ribbon mics at Long and McQuade. L&M owns both ART and APEX.
APEX is kind of the L&M house brand. The APEX 210 and APEX 787 are on sale right now.

The ART AR5 and APEX 787 are active ribbon mics, and are better suited to be used with lower end mic pre amps, like the pre amps built into an audio interface. If you have some nice mic pre's like Great River or API, then go with a passive design. Otherwise, stay with the active ribbon mics. The passive ribbons need a lot of gain, and if the mic pre isn't up to the task, you'll get a ton of noise and a lackluster frequency response.

Also, if you are looking for a low cost mic that will give you something different than an SM57, the Audix I5 is killer for guitar cabs.

Even if it survives, a ribbon mic would not be my selection for an iso box.
My ribbons sounded glorious when the room was right as it picked up the whole vibe. ISO would seem to work well with 57 types

Even a ribbon treated right, it will stretch out over time and start to decrease in quality. Put it in an ISO box and that can't be good

Thanks for your comment and this information! I'have two dynamic a 57 and a Heil pr20ut I prefer the pr20 is my favorite dynamic for guitar recording... but after a lot of sample listening, The sound of a ribbon is really what I want. I dont have the budget for a Royer or a AEA...
