Emailed James at Bad Cat about a month ago, but never had a reply. Just sent another email today, but I'm not expecting anything quick, and I need to get this replaced soon...

I just got a killer Bad Cat Wild Cat... Haven't seen too muck info on these amps on any forum. Why is this? Is it an unusual amp or is is so self-explanitory that there simply is no info necissary? I was wondering about the lack of fx loop, and strange channel setup... Is there any way to install a loop on the amp and is there a reason there is no real switching capabilities on this monster?

It's an EL34 equivalent of the Black cat. You can use an a/b switch to change channels. Not sure on a loop, these amps are typically known for being great "pedal platforms". I believe users generally preferred the Black cat for it's el84 chimey qualities- not to say the wild cat isn't a great amp though.

What I find so irritating is the lack of readily available REAL specs on these amps. Personal opinions on qualities such as tone and clean channel quietness are nothing I'd base forking out tons of cash on ANY amp. I have a NOS Peavey Ranger 212 that you can Google not only the owner's manual, but schematics (and tons of reviews and opinions that are easily equal to those about Bad Cat amps), but the manual not only tells you about the amp and how to operate it, it has FULL TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS like THD, S/N ratios, system / power amp hum and noise, input levels, and much more all at disclosed frequencies and re-creatable measurable test settings. Any amp company asking the money these amps go for should be prepared to back up the hype with real repeatable / re-creatable bench testing specs that can be confirmed by others in my opinion. I'd never buy ANY amp on hype and opinions of others, all of which are subjective.

Maybe Heath Berkowitz would like to elucidate on whether I'm incorrect that specs are not readily available to the general public or whether there are simply no tech specs available to compare with other amps. I've tried ther website and lots of searches / different search parameters on Google and haven't found a single tech spec yet.

To repeat, personal opinions on qualities such as tone and clean channel quietness are nothing I'd base forking out tons of cash on ANY amp.

Did you try to contact them directly to get the info you want ? Peavey is a very large company, Bad Cat only has a few employees. I would guess you know this....

They may be small, but they should be able to bench test their amps and provide specs or farm it out to a testing company. Not a 'big company required' thing. Lots of labs or test facilities that could do that for them. It would be in their best interest unless the amps aren't anywhere near what owner's ears lead them to claim.

One amp I wish I had never sold was a Hot Cat 30 with blue sparkle vinyl. So cool. So killer sounding.

No offense, but the bulk of people don't much care about the values in those specs, they care about what their ears hear and what they feel when standing in front of the amp while they play. While I don't disagree they could make them available...they probably don't cause most people aren't that interested in reading those numbers or values.
