I don't mean to be a fuddy duddy.... but did George Michael really matter in anyone's life here? It seems that every time a has been celebrity passes, someone is running to post a RIP thread.

All I'm saying is... Let's give a little more thanks to the one's that really matter in our world. My wife does so much work to help rescue animals and my Uncle Louis dedicated his life to helping his community. I'd much rather hear about those people, not some dickhead who gets arrested in bathrooms.

Kind of see what you are saying here.... who wouldn't want everyone who never knew them throwing around RIPs for them when they passed? Most of us will never get that. We won't even be in people's thoughts for 20 seconds. It does also seem like any star gets a dedicated worship thread here when they pass though and I just thought to myself, bummer he died but that was more based on his age rather than who he was.

I agree...RIP here is for musicians usually, and he contributed a lot...He mattered to me. Watch "Somebody to Love" with him and Queen live. It's killer. I actually liked Make it Big...I am not scared to admit it. Did he matter, yes. Everyone matters.

wow dude. do you have ANY idea how much money George Michael donated and raised towards charities?? In the tens of millions of dollars. If you think your uncle louis or wife have had some important impact, imagine how much impact his philanthropic contributions and awareness raising efforts had. Its bad form to speak ill of the dead, I would hope you would reconsider your words, especially with someone who has done MUCH more than get caught in a bathroom..there is more to his legacy than the one bad thing you can say about him.

I can understand that Reza... and this really wasn't directed toward George Michael's fully. I just want people not to forget all the "little" people out there that makes this world so great. I think there is a lot of great in everyone and I'm sure he's no different.

This is what I was really trying to say. I'm just not nearly as politically correct about saying it! It was really meant to say "don't forget about those who have really mattered in your life". It really wasn't so much about the person that passed. I'm sure he's dome many good things for others.

As I said in my original post. I'm sorry to hear of anyone passing...especially over the holidays.
