I heard about this just a little while ago, I'm still fucking stunned. So young and with so much promise, it's a very sad day. Rest in Peace.

NOTE TO SELF - Never have surgery in Poland.

actually i believe that was done in Russia, and he was going to be moved to Poland for further treatment. i have a feeling that the trepanation was done to release pressure in the skull from brain swelling...the same thing is done in the states...pretty common practice for severe head injuries where brain swelling could cause death.

as for Groove...does it matter if the guy was in a metal band or a jazz band? he was doing what he loved to do, and not all metal bands sing songs of satan. sure you have Cannibal Corpse...but i look at them as writing lyrics that are funny and tongue in cheek...i mean, Orgasm Through Torture...read the lyrics and i guarantee youll chuckle. but listen to something like Nevermore and the lyrics are about stuff thats totally on the opposite spectrum...Godless Endeavor doesnt even have a Parental Advisory sticker on it...yet i see Nevermore as pretty extreme at times. id mourn if they got into a wreck and Van died. i met that man and he was one of the coolest dudes ever...hanging with us after the show and just talking about music and everything else. i dont really think Vitek would be any different.

no offense taken...just stating my opinion on the matter

This sucks so much. I've only recently gotten into Decapitated about 6 months ago, but they were one of my favorite metal bands. The drummer was sick as hell with amazing groove! It's sad to hear about his death. :(

Why not? At least it's free over there. :)

is it proper to mourn someone in an extreme metal band?

You have to be fucking kidding. Wow.

no, seriously, I'm not sure what the difference between death metal, extreme metal, black metal, and so on is. Nor am I sure what faction/genre/whatever lays claim to the guys going around burning churches, attacking band members, whatever. Heck, who lays claim to slayer, pretty much all of whose songs are fucked up? I'm saying, for guys that praise satan from here to there, and that's like their sole claim to fame, and spread that much bad karma through their music, doesn't it seem contrary to what they would say to mourn their loss? I wasn't being sarcastic, I'm asking if their music's message/band persona/agenda is contrary to mourning their passing.

I'm not even going to bother dignifying a response after reading that. You obviously have no clue about anything relating to extreme metal.

Bands / people shouldn't be judged simply by their involvement with a certain style of music. The amount of bands / people burning down churches is small in comparison to the number of bands / people involved in that scene in particular, which was Norwegian Black Metal. That scene has no connection to the band Decapitated at all... While these events were going on these guys were barely in their teens.

As far as worshipping satan, that has absolutely nothing to do with the passing of this musician who died due to injuries sustained in bus accident while on tour playing music for fans.

Decapitated is known for three things really... Putting out four albums of death metal, tight live performances of this music, and the fact that they were playing this music when they were in their early teens (13-15 years old), playing with bands over double their age.

I am saddened by this. Great band. Horrible to see two members hurt so badly just trying to get to the next gig...

Steve

I included the rest of the people there with me.

I'll edit that post for clarity

soooooo lame! one of my fave bands...

grooveHT, you are now the second dumbest fuk i've met here if you're sincere in your post. to my knowledge, decapitated was not a "satanic" band...BUT...would it matter if he was satanist? satanists don't have hearts and feelings? satanists only think of death, blood and gore? satanists don't have the right to their religion (like you)? satanists have only bad vibes? satanists don't have the right to live their lives (like you)? gimme a fukken break.

i suggest you read up on some different religions. skip all the stupid idiots that be killin chickens and drinkin blood...those people aren't satanists, they're retards. i also suggest that you get the fuk outta your house every now and then and go hang with people so you can gain some type of knowledge of what humans are about and how they interact.

Ok, here it is, one last time for people bent on what they think I'm saying. I was positing that for all extreme metal bands talk about death and dismemberment and whatnot, do you think the drummer would want you to mourn his loss. I wasn't saying he wasn't a talented musician, or that you're a turd if you like his music, or even that he wasn't a cool guy. I was asking if he subscribed to what his music talked about, and what his thoughts would be. For the record, everyone has a right to life, but I have no idea how other religions/theologies feel about death or the afterlife or what, like groups like slayer, or extreme metal bands, or whatever. So maybe instead of getting offended and calling me a fucktard and telling me to go outside, you could just answer the damn question because obviously you know more about "extreme metal" than I do. And I'm not even being sarcastic there at the end when most people end off their post with a sarcastic bit...I know nothing about extreme metal, tried once or twice and couldn't get past the intros, so it's a genuine freakin question about that community.
