So, Ive got a Knucklehead Tre on the way. Who’s got experience with them and what say you? Been buying and selling like a fiend during this Stay at Home order! :D  I’m not a Adam Jones fanboy, but this clip destroys me. https://youtu.be/B4F3aos5AG0

Owned the KR7 amp twice.
Fucking thing is awesome!!
Almost’tooooooo many ‘ pick pull knobs switches.

Damn dude...you aren't messing around this month!

Congrats. I love my first gen Knucklehead and wouldn't mind moving up someday. Those are sweet amps.

That's my clip! I don't have it anymore   Very cool amp but not quite my style. Quite unique, not anything like typical high gain Marshall kinda tones IMO. Has almost like a Hiwatt & Orange kind of thing going on. Sounds like a bit of Recto DNA in there and a bit Shiva like in a way too. Massive low end and punishingly loud. Clean channel is phenomenal.

I have the K100 and the Ktre
I love them both.

The Ktre is probably one of my most played amps at the moment. EQ'ing is a little different than most of what I normally do. Not hard, just different. Use the loop to lower the master and you will love it.

I found that the PI makes a difference in the hiss and noise (which isn't bad to begin with) . I threw a NOS GE tube in there and it made a massive improvement. I am running JJ E34L's in there and I actually dig it.

Also, try it with K100's/K85's. I like it better with that than V30's.

That clip is amazing. Such a thick and killer tone, and great playing too. I’m a Marshall guy at heart, but I’ve been broadening my horizons lately with bigger, thicker tones. I just scored a Mark IV and a Rev G Triple Rec, and I’m loving them both. Hopefully I dig this as much as I dig them.

How do you use the loop to lower the master, just turn down the loop volume? That lowers volume without changing the tone? I’ll definitely toy around with the preamp tubes.
I’ll be playing it through a Mesa with V30’s and Greenbacks, and a Splawn with V30’s and K100’s.

Turn them both down to 3 and keep the loop always on. Dial everything from the front. If you want the amp to be louder, turn the knobs on the front. I never use it without the loop on and the levels dropped. Set and forget. I used mine with a Recto cab and now with an old K85 loaded butcher cab. It owns with that cab as opposed to the Recto

Side story I got my Ktre from the original bassist Octavio Fernandez of Undeoath, who got a Tre (my EXACT amp) because he heard Jon Donais tone when they were on tour when they were opening for them in the early 2000's. This was when Undeoath was a lot heavier (and less known) than they are today.

Congrats on the new Rivera! As Swamptrash says, they sound great through K85/K100s.

I have a KII and KR55.

Getting good tone at lower volumes pretty much requires the use of the loop. Send and receive both around 3 and you're good to go.

I regret getting rid of mine. I always found the TRE to be pretty loose kinda like an Orange but if you throw a boost in front it tightens it up just enough to give it a nice bite and growl that I haven't gotten from any other amp.

The clean channel on that amp is amazing too, definitely don't forget to try it out.

I haven't had the chance to play with a Tre yet, but from everything I've heard, it sounds like it's very similar to the KII, at least more like the KII than the KR55. The KII has a pull bass boost, which is not even really usable in any situation I could imagine. The amp has more low end than anything else I've played even without the boost on. And yeah, my KII absolutely requires the boost up front to tighten it up. I just run an SD-1 in front with the level all the way up and the drive all the way down.

So the amp came yesterday, and it’s going back today. I played it for around 5 minutes and it made a loud, popping/screeching sound. Happened again a few minutes later, so I changed all the tubes with my own. Five minutes later, it did it again, so I shut it down and boxed it up. Sounded pretty good otherwise, but nothing great. It was a muddy mess without the clean boost, even with the loop on and level on 3. The amp didn’t have the huge low end that everyone speaks of either. Oh well, win some, lose some. At least the seller was cool enough send me a return shipping label.

Bummer man. That clip sounded pretty damn killer. I've never played a Rivera. I don't think I've ever even seen one in person.

I bought one back in early 2016.
Great amp but needs to be pushed to sound good.

They are killer amps. Obviously something was wrong with yours, I would try another. They DO need a bit of volume. Also you cannot EQ them like most other amps. Very finicky compared to most. IMO anyway.

Yup this exactly. One of the main reasons I keep it.. to justify all the boost and OD pedals, otherwise I wouldn't need them so much
