RJM effects gizmo, or radial jx2 for 2 amp rig?

Hey guys. I have been reevaluating my rig, and am kind of undecided at this point. Basically, I am going to be running a two amp rig consisting of a VHT UL, and D120 head, through 2 VHT cabs. I am having a 2 amp rack case being built, along with a 5 space rack above it. The goal was to have both amps running together via the rjm effects gizmo, and mastermind footpedal. main reason being, I was going to be using an effects processor between two heads, as well as various stomboxes, and I wanted to have patches created to have all different kinds of combinations, and to avoid tap dancing..

Lately however though, I realize I dont NEED a whole hoist of tones, but still want to be able to run both amps together, or seperate, or whichever way I wanted. This is where the radial jx-2 switchbone comes in. I used one before in just a simple, 2 amp rig, with no effects, and it was great: especially the boost features it presents.

My main concern with using the Jx2 vs something like the RJM effects gizmo, is that I would then be lugging around a pedalboard as well. I also feel that I wouldn't be able to make my setup as "neat and tighty" as I could with having the pedals in a droor in the rack, controlled via midi with one pedal at the front of the stage. Also, when using the jx2, How would I run pedals through both of the amps? For example, a wah pedal or 1 boost? how would I run those through both amps without something like a looper?

So, this is where my heartache is. Not sure what to do here. THe rjm system, will be much more confusing to me, and much more expensive, however, once I learn midi programming, could make my life much less complicated. anyways, just curious what you guys think. Thanks!

I think you're gay.....I know it doesn't answer your question, but it answers mine lol jk man.

Sigh...a well thought out post from the peanut gallory! THANK YOU KEITH! ;)

Honestly I would just go all out and get the RG-16. You may want to add effects in the future and if you are going the gizmo route you will be pretty limited should you ever decide to rack some pedals.
I'm using one with the mastermind and its pretty bad ass and it sure makes for a ton of options! Besides if you settle, and then decide later you need more options you will take a hell of a beating on re-sale

Correct me if im wrong but, isnt the RG16 the older version of what is now the effects gizmo? I thought they were essentially the same, just that the rg16 is now discontinued?

Oh Shit, I'm a tard, you are correct!
You won't regret the RJM products

I have tried it all. You will likely have some hum and certainly some phase control issues using just the Gizmo. Buy the Y-Not from RJM. They are great. I have two of them. The Gizmo does not have the ISO protection or ground lift.

You can run your boost & wah before the a/b/y pedal

So if I run the wah and boost before the switchbone, when both amps are being played, would that mean both amps are getting boosted? Wouldn't that not be true boosting because the signal is getting split? What about running a boost and wah before the switchbone, is that ok to do?

Hey VESmedic, you also should take into consideration two high gain amps like that simultaneously will cause some volume control issues without careful midi presets (compared to when just one is on). You might want to consider a midi controllable box that you can put into the effects loop of both amps, to have presets for output. Added bonus is you'll have a box for post preamp effects. Don't like digital boxes? Throw a mini gizmo into the rig for post preamp stage. This is also a nice place to put a Noise Reduction for high gain amps :)

Picked up a new Gizmo a couple weeks ago, they added a ground lift button which works great!
