Rockitt Retro/ Rockstah Mod 5 value

What Value/what its worth need some opinions Read carefully I have the last amp that Mark Abrahamian-Rockstah (RIP)modded before he passed away.it’s a Rockitt Retro(# 46)1968 50 watt plexi spec 12000 series all hand wired terret all top notch components that I sent to Mark Abrahamian to mod.I had the Rockstah Amplification logo made that’s the logo Mark Abrahamian designed but passed away before he had a chance to make them.I remember Mark A.called me on a friday this was September of 2012 telling me “ hey man I’m sending the amp to you when get it please call me to tell me how you like the mod 5”, I recieve the amp on that Monday which was a three day wait,I find out the Mark passed away that Sunday night after a show in Nebraska, Mark was Mickey Thompson guitar player in Starship. It was sad that I couldn’t call him back to tell him that the amp just sounds amazing early Van halen all day.. Mark and I would talk all the time about the Van Halen sound and amps in general. I have all the paperwork from Rockitt Retro and all the email correspondence(copied)from Mark Abrahamian.

The Retro's sound great, but don't really have a high ceiling on resale value. The fact that it was modded and by Mark, (who's work always sounded incredibly good), is a big plus, but I still don't think you're sitting on a pile of gold. It's really dependent on what someone's willing to pay, but I wouldn't suspect it would be more than $2k-ish? Others may agree, others may think it's worth more. Hard to say.
 
I disagree. 50w Marshall's are going for that range. This amp is a $1500 amp to the right buyer.
 
That's a cool amp! If I had the $ I'd buy it just because it's orange and hot Marshally goodness.
 
I’ve always found modded clones end up selling for less than what a real modded Marshall would go for. Had better luck moving some Golub modded Marshalls a few years back vs the one clone I had Martin mod. Find someone who’s after that particular mod and you may get a bit more out of it, but most people round here see that as a $1500-2000 Rockitt retro at the end of the day.
 
It’s built equal or better then some of your boutique Marshall plex clone/copies that are out there like Friedman/Morris/MGL/etc, etc.

The name recognition is a significant factor, and Rockitt is simply not well known. There was a Rockitt Plexi sitting for sale here for $1500 CANADIAN (so like 1100 US?) for a long time and it didn't move for that price.

Friedman moves a lot of product, advertises like crazy, etc. But one thing that I think is noteworthy with Friedman is that they get flipped a lot.

Obviously there is less sample size with someone like MGL or Morris, but you regularly see players saying "This is the sound I was looking for" with those two, and they seemingly get flipped less often.

We have forum members that build amps at that level, and they aren't worth much to anybody but us.
 
You know what, for some reason I always feel sad for Mark when I see posts come up about him, his gear, or I stumble upon old threads on the Metro forum looking for info. The guy shared with the community, was a hell of a player, and just an all around passionate musician and seemingly a good guy. To pass away at what, early 50's? So suddenly too, that's shit. I think we could say that about a lot of people and a few others that have passed on this forum. It's a real shame.

Yup, I picked up my MGL and my Morris for $1500/ea (maybe the Morris was $1600)—IMO you’d be lucky to get over $1000 for that amp.

That being said, I’d love to have it

That's crazy! I'm older than that now. Feels like I am starting to figure it out.. so much life and playing he would of had in front of him.
 
So, some time ago I fell into an opportunity to buy Mark's #2 'ground-up' 100-watt 'Rockstah' build using a Metropoulos chassis and components. Its well documented, I've got the hand written receipt from the original owner and the inside of the chassis is signed and dated by Mark. As soon as I got it, I sent it to George Metropoulos and he went through it - assured me it was Mark's #2 build - and gave it a clean bill of health. I've still got it. Sounds really incredible. One-trick pony, but does that trick really, really well. This one was released before Mark had the labels for the transformers and of course, no logo on the headshell. But Lightning here sold me an extra logo for the headshell after he had a couple of them made! Thank You!

$$$ for this Rockitt amp might not be through the roof - but if the amp sounds as good as I'm betting it does, its almost not worth it to sell it. I don't fire mine up as often as I should - but when I do, I am so glad its in the stable.
 
PDC what would you think your #2 ground up build would be worth

Are you looking to sell, or just put some imaginary number out there? "I have an amp that Rig-Talk says is worth $1,000,000. But I only paid $250 for it" :p
