My main amp is a Bogner XTC Classic. The clean channel is very open and I figured a comp would smooth it out. Tried a few at local stores (Two that both happen to have the XTC in stock) and found they all colored the sound too much.

Took a shot on the Rothwell Love Squeeze based on Andy's Demo from Pro Guitar Shop.
I'm glad I did. This pedal is as transparent as a compressor can get. I have it set up to slightly boost the front end of the amp so there is a small amount of low end added.

The Green channel stayed nice and shimmery while tightening up and smoothing out nicely.

The Blue channel just sings!!! The only word that comes to mind is "Polished" if that makes any sense...

I have the Red channel set to Plexi mode. The slight boost helps this channel get nice and crunchy, single notes are nice and fat.

I have the Compression set at 12:00, The Volume set at 3:00. This gives the amp a fair amount of compression, and a slight boost, nothing serious since the clean channel stays clean.

Also, this rig is really quiet. I can hear a slight increase in hiss when the comp is on but no noise at all. This will vary depending on the amount of noise your amp produces. My XTC just happens to be very quiet and the Rothwell doesn't add any noise at all.

My signal chain is Guitar > Love Squeeze > Polytune > TS9 > Flashback > Corona Chorus > FT Choralflange > Phase 90 > XTC > Alex Attenuator > 2X12 with V-30's.

Check out the Love Squeeze!!!
