Rumored Mesa Mark James Hetfield signature

its funny, for how many years people bitched for a iic+ or hetfield sig amp, then they do it for cheaper than i know i thought they would with the iic+ at least, and people still bitch lol
Exactly. They actually sell things cheaper then limit quantities for unobtainium

Those bastards! How dare they put out the amps people have been asking for! Damn you Gibson!

I guess its ok to pay 10 or 12k for a original, but its overpriced to pay 3600 new for a reissue or 2600 for one used. Ive seen people for years saying how they would love it if there was a reissue, but then mesa finally gives it to us and now people bitch about it. I personally was never gonna pay 10k for a amp, so i was happy to be able to buy the reissue for alot less. I never expected mesa to release it for 2k, that was never gonna happen.

Anybody hear anything about this? I already knew the HRG was coming, but i never heard this was coming.

I doubt this will ever see the light of day on account of Hetfield wanting it to be affordable, as per Randall. Gibson definitely ain’t the company that’s going to make that happen.

As much as people like to throw the “for the money” BS at Metallica, for someone who can easily call any gear company in the world and ask them to put his name on something, the dude’s got what, the ESP/LTD’s sigs, picks and pickups?

I’d have to imagine Gibson has been clamoring to get him onboard and that ‘84 Explorer was probably a stab at it, but doesn’t seem he’s likely to budge.

Considering what a pos that 80’s explorer is, that probably made him even more resolute to stay with ESP. $2500 for an extremely basic and poorly executed guitar.
I like light guitars but it felt like balsa wood in your hands.

Interesting that no one is taking issue with Mesa apparently lifting some of the Roland and VH4 circuits, if this James amp is what it seems. The trend I've observed over the years is that when one esoteric boutique amp builder begs, borrows or steals from another esoteric boutique amp builder, the guy is bad. When a larger company does the same to any other company (big or small) and makes it affordable, then it's ok because then the "me's me's me's" can easily get one.

Absolutely.
I can understand James asking for those type of tones in a sig amp as they are the foundation of his sound now, but I was surprised to read that Randall was actually referring to those amps and I wonder how close to the original proprietary circuits they had gone.
Now if it was the other way around and Diezel and Roland were openly discussing how they were going for very specific Mesa amps/circuits into their own new product development I'm sure Mesa/Gibson wouldn't be so happy.

I had one and it was a great guitar. Sounded like a proper Explorer. It was light but sounded the way a proper Explorer should sound. I only swapped pickups but the factory ones were okay just not my style.
