There are a lot of great drummers, but Peart tops the list for me. He somehow seems to play 4 different time signatures concurrently on 4 different appendages.Everything he plays just seems like the right thing - you'd be hard-pressed to take one of their songs and make one of his drum tracks better by changing it. I don't know how he does it. I'd love to see his live playing somehow overlayed with a digital click to see just how precise he is. Oh, and if he's slightly in front or slightly behind, it's because he wanted it that way

All three of them are amazing. A few of their albums, where they strayed into some of the more "electronic" stuff, were just so-so for me, but as musicians, they will always have my utmost respect.

As I posted, The man is a Savante. It's the only way he could accomplish what you stated. I have always thought the same about him. It's mind baffling.

I love early Rush up to and including Moving Pictures. After that they lost me with a couple of not so stellar releases.

I hear ya. "Roll the Bones" their fourteenth studio album released in 02/92 didn't impress too much and much of anything else RUSH released after that.

IMO "Moving Pictures" was simply the pinnacle of RUSH's career, similar to Van Halen's first album "Van Halen" released on 02/78 - Eddie just had the metal tone to die for.

I've really come to like them the last few years. When I was really getting into music as a kid was about the time they were releasing Power Windows and Presto. Heavy on synth. Short on guitar. Didn't like it at all. Finally got introduced to some of the old stuff and it's really great stuff.

Geddy wanted to do the sythns. Alex and Neil hated it but did it for him. Finally Geddy gave in and stopped.

My old bassist gave me and girlfriend free tickets to the Time Machine tour that his dad won from WAAF in Boston.

Best show of my young life. 26 songs and absolutely mind blowing.

I love older Rush and was a huge fan from everything from the S/T to Moving Pictures. I am going to see them at Summerfest this year. The documentary DVD is great.

Alex made and developed his whole RUSH career around variations of distinctive modes on suspended chords.

Lifeson was 21 for Rush's generic debut. What the heck did he do over the next 3 years to turn out Farewell at 24? Or Moving Pictures at 28?
