Damn, I hate to say it but I was completely underwhelmed by that. Great to see Jon Lord on vid playing one more time though. I think they did that to support funding for music schools in eastern europe I think. Good on 'em.

I loved that lineup. Got to see 'em live on that tour. Quiet Riot opened, if I recall.

Yep touring to support Metal Health.

Gillian was great. Best part was the HUGE binders with lyrics to all of the song. HUGE, HUGE binders. And he'd keep flipping pages during the songs.

I don't remember the binders, but this concert was on July 4th and I vividly remember some turkey throwing a very large explosive (M80 or something?) out in to the crowd and I was scared out of my mind for most of the show (I was only about 14 or 15). And yeah, it was Quiet Riot with Carlos Cavazo. Although it was a strange opening act, QR was huge at the time. People may forget, but QR played an extremely pivotal role in the resurgance of "metal" music on MTV.

For me, Black Sabbath isn't Black Sabbath without Ozzy.

Don't get me wrong, I do like the Dio albums...but it should have been called something else IMO.

You can keep the Gillan stuff :aww:

I dug the Gillen era. I dug the Dio era. I dug the Martin era even more! Iomi's tone was just HUGE on the TYR, Headless Cross and Cross of Thorns albums. The Ozzy era is my least favorite Sabbath. I always prerred Ozzy on his own. But I'll admit that even though I was a child of the 70s and 80s, I didn't really get into Sabbath until after they'd dumped Ozzy. So I don't have that loyalty to the original lineup that others have.

Sabbath w/out Ozzy? I really don't care. I was never a big ozzy fan. This was my favorite Sabbath album.

Didn't care for it. Dio era Sabbath is by far the best imo.

+1 here  loved that album! yeah the production should've been better but it's a superheavy, album with killer, evil Gillan vocals  still one of my fav Sabbath releases!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The early Sab stuff would've been cool with Dio and/or Gillan.

The Dio/Gillan era Sab stuff would've been terrible with Ozzy IMO.

I thought Dio with Sabbath was kick ass. MOB RULES.
This is true. I wasn’t brushing off other contributors to the mighty original "Black Sabbath". I just grew up with them and Ozzy just killed back in the day – crazy m’fr.

Ronnie is/was definitely next in line. Ronnie had some serious pipes for a little 5'4" m'fr. I love every song off of "Heaven and Hell" from back in 1980.

Tell that to the other 3 members.
You mean "the other 4 members" - I already have, many times.

They all concur.

My drummer got me tickets for that tour for my birthday. I saw them in a small hockey rink in Toledo Ohio. It was general admission, I was about 3 feet from Tony. They were great, Ian is a great vocalist and interesting live performer who hid behind his hair most of the night. He had super long hair all one length and a lot of the time you could only tell which was the front of him based on where he placed the mic was when singing lol If you ever want to break in a new leather biker jacket, wear it to a main floor general admission Black Sabbath concert ;)

No matter what you call the band, that was one fucking great album.

I know that everyone bitches about the mix but it does an amazing job of rearranging
the living room furniture layout...

Saw them on that tour (jan 23? 1984) at the long beach arena. What a hoot hearing them
close with smoke on the water.
