I wouldn't do it. Remember that crocodile in Peter Pan that always made a ticking sound because it took off Captain Hook's hand? Well the gators down there in Florida are famous for eating people's Rolex's and take their hands as well!

Thank goodness I live somewhere safe that doesn't have that sort of danger from large reptiles!

Would you bring your best guitar to a shitty gig? If you are worried or have doubts, leave it home or insure it. You can get reasonable rates from places like Hodinkee. If you are going to wear a $25k watch, spend a few hundred bucks to insure it.

Well, it looks like the times are changing in Europe and in USA. Some big cities seem to have moved into a direction where thefts are up and one is even suggested by the police to leave valuables, e.g. jewelry, watches etc, at home. Could I stop paying taxes if this is the officials' opinion and they are spreading their hands as in no can do?

I think you answered your own question. If you are going to Disney World, you'll be fine. If you are going to Miami and plan on hanging out at bars/clubs and partying into the night hours, use common sense.
