Bon Jovi?
Nobody cares about the guitar player in that band. Come on. Laughable.

Did somebody compare Sambora to Angus Young? That's just stupid. Geez guitar players are ridiculous. :)

Was Richie actually collecting while he was on leave, or was he fired just to save money? As I said in an earlier post, 19 of 22 tracks on "Slippery When Wet" and "New Jersey" were co-written by Richie, so it's not like he was just the guitarist. The fact of the matter is that people will still go to see them regardless, as stated above. Regarding politics, It pisses me off when douche bags use platforms like music and entertainment to try and jam their beliefs down other people's throats, especially when they're limousine liberals.

Wait...

They were only paying Phil X roughly $10K a month?

I'd be SO embarrassed if I were BJ or RS right now. How fuckin' rude of them.

I mean, ya, Phil's fresh meat but he's got a tremendously cool attitude, and yes, he has to work his way up the ranks in this bullshit business of rock and roll. But for a "corporation" of Bon Jovi's wealth and magnitude to be able to carry on a rockin' live tour thanks largely in part to the coolness and talent of a cat like Phil X, only to turn around and fuck him with pissy pay while everyone else gloats in their fat financial boats??

Sucks major ass. And for this, the whole fkn lot of 'em can suck a pole.

Phil X, you deserve better man :salute:
I think that is the going rate for a side man with a big, international act. I doubt Phil was making that playing the Viper Room...

Steve

Jon Bon Jovi is the boss. Richie's an employee. You do what the boss wants when the boss wants or you find another job.

I'll quit my day job tonight to make $10K/month playing arena rock for a bunch of horny MILFs

I can't find a comparison between Richie and Alex Lifeson either. I've listened to JBJ for twenty years now (not a fan, just hearing it over and over again), and I don't find any "personality" to RS' playing. It's OK, but it's not as memorable as Alex Lifeson or Angus Young.

He believes in helping out others as opposed to just hoarding all money and pushing an agenda on lower taxes for the rich which is unusual.

Guess you haven't heard of Mr Bon Jovi's NJ Bee farm subsidies, Same with his buddy Bruce with his organic farm land subsidies

I would pay to see Bon Jovi with Sambora but without John Bon Jovi singing.  Really cannot stand JBJ anymore!

Some of them MILFs are big bruisin' heavy hitters who'll end up costing you more in medical bills after one night that what $10K will pay for a month.

Sorry - for a band of BJs supposed "epicness" to continue to play worldwide due to the fact they've got a cat who can play, the $10K just seems completely disproportionate to the bigger picture. I get it - I get it - hired gun, big act, fair enough - I see the points being made. I just wouldn't be a cheapskate like that. I know this.

Whatever.

If i read the article correctly and Sambora was paid 20% of all royalties and was raking in over 2million a month ,I'm sorry man your an A$$hle .To do that to the fans

'sambora's departure is all about money. Sources say that Sambora was raking in $2 million a month and 20 percent of the profits from the tour,

Bon Jovi should have fired him , he was grossly overpaid

Bon Jovi is very charitable, but those charities don't pay for roads, bridges and other infrastructure, much less wages for public school teachers, civil servants, etc.

But yeah, his home is on 15 acres and worth a paltry $22 million or so - and he pays about $100/year in property taxes because he raises bees.

Maybe Sambora was irate over the bee farm, cause he had to pay 4000 per year on his 300 acres ranch

Ditto all that. But I guess Sambora was "just another nobody guitar player" according to some here. Narrow-minded indeed...

Vai does honey-bees.

I like Vai.

As for Sambora and the rest of the BJ crew, I hope they get stuck with honey badger.

Honey badger don't give a shit.

Funny how that works with limo-liberals. "Those damn evil corporate fat cats aren't paying their fair share! Now... what was my accountant's number again? I need to add a couple other tax shelters to the portfolio..."

My point was NOT to pretend that Sambora has made the same contribution to music as Angus or Alex, but he has DAMN sure added a LOT to Bon Jovi's band and has the damn writing credits to prove it. He's fit very well in the band. Quit being obtuse.

You must've missed the part where I clearly stated that BJ fans don't give a crap who the guitar player is in the band. And the part where others pointed-out how much writing credit Ritchie gets in regards to Bon Jovi's hits. Which was my reason for saying that he's clearly an integral part of the Bon Jovi sound over the years. Perhaps not to the level of Angus or Alex... but still a very important part. He gets those fat royalty checks to prove that. Were he just a nobody guitar player... that would NOT be the case.

Different strokes for different folks. I'm constantly amazed, although not surprised at how narrow minded and judgmental guitar players are. What's wrong with a band that's geared towards bringing in more women to shows than men? Why are you concerned about their hair? Are you losing yours already or something?

I could give a rat's ass about their hair. I think THEY care about their hair. Nothing "wrong" with a band geared towards bringing-in the chicks. I'm sure they've got trucks full of all the lingerie they've collected on tour. Good for them. And that all of that does NOTHING to make me a fan of them. I'm a fan of Bon Jovi like I'm fan of Katie Perry. She's got a couple of catchy tunes that I don't mind and I think she's kinda hot at times. That's as deep as my "fan devotion" goes to Katie and Bon Jovi. In fact, I'll take dopey Katie over JBJ most of the time...

So what if they care about their hair? Every day people spend time grooming themselves every morning before the work day and "care" about their hair.

I have no idea of your age but you sound like a narrow minded, bitter old man. Why so many people find it necessary to belittle the things that aren't to their liking is a mystery to me.
