Sammy Hagar!

I love EVH's playing to death and liked how he cleaned up his act, but this dude is a looney tune. Crystal meth fucks your brain up for good.
Next time he'll be claiming inventing the wheel and blame Mikey for all the punctures.

I think a lot of what Ed said is jacked up but I have no problem with anything he said about Dave. I saw Van Halen in 2012 in Pittsburgh and DLR was a disaster. I still enjoyed the show for the most part because it was nice seeing him on stage with the guys and for a lot of songs he did an ok job.

I had watched a lot of Youtube videos of concerts before going and his banter in between songs was exactly like what he said at every single show. He did the same moves, etc. He was out of tune and just acted like he'd rather be reading a book at home. That is one thing I'll say about Sammy, he always brings it and improvises, etc.

With all that said, I think Ed really enjoys doing the older songs that he couldn't do for all of those years without Dave. I think he would probably like to have a friendship with Dave but they are just business partners now. They get along so that is good I guess.

I think it's cool how Sammy backed up Mike as well. I don't know, everything I've read sounds like Ed was a d-bag back in the day too... maybe he just is more willing to talk and show it to the public now lol

Ed's worst point for me was when he spoke at Dimebag's funeral and was in his full-bore alcoholic, missing teeth phase. I remember reading that even Zakk was like "what the hell is going on with him?". That was around the same time that VH got back with Sammy and at that last show Ed lost it and smashed his guitar and said some stuff in the microphone, etc.

That wasn't alcohol, that was meth.

It's like whenever they ask Eddie a question about another member he gets offended and jealous and says "what about me man?"

I love Evh but his views on somethings is bewildering.
Meth addiction and the years of partying really did skew his recollections I suppose.
I caught VH in the 80's with Mikey and the guy sang great and played quite well and was a big contributor to the Greatness a VH show once was.
Not a Van Hagar fan but Montrose and VHI and II are in my Top 10 lists.

I hate that it is true but,
Eddie Van Halen is a douche

Hey its a song !!!

Why would anyone decide to turn into a douche during the last leg of their career?

Hagar is a tool...He called EVH a liar BUT in his own book states how MA never contributed to the songwriting and that EVH showed MA what to play...

Doesn't sound like EVH is lying there..FUK YOU HAGAR (lol)

No, that's not what Sammy said in his book. He said that ALEX never contributed a thing to the songwriting. He also said that when they were all 4 negotiating the new record deal, Eddie and Alex forced Mike to take a much lower % of the money than before (it had always been split equally 4 ways). Sammy thought that was crazy because Alex contributed the very least to the band.

Also, you're misquoting what EVH said recently. He claimed that he had to teach MA how to play bass. That's not true, as MA had been in several bands before VH. In reality EVH would occasionally show him what bass part he wanted MA to play. That's not teaching someone how to play bass.

why let facts get in the way of a fan, right? :)

Eddie is an amazing talent, one of the best.but he is a crappy human being.his life always seems a mess and he never seems to be happy and greatful.listen to the old interview where he talks about randy roads after he passed, that really shows you the type of person he is..

yeah why let the truth get in the way...

From Hagar's book...

Ugg, that's what we've been saying, Mike didn't write..ok...and if Eddie wrote a new tune he would show Mike what he wanted him to play. That's not the same thing as showing him via video how to play the bass on all of the tunes.

ugggggg

The POINT is that Hagar called EVH a liar, when he himself says in his book that EVH showed Mike what to play. Why does it matter how EVH did that?

What Ed said was, “Before we’d go on tour, he’d come over with a video camera and I’d have to show him how to play all the parts.”

C'mon man... There is a big difference between showing someone a part you want them to play instead of what they normally play or a part for a new song and having them videotape you prior to a tour so they can relearn parts that they've been playing for years. The implication from Ed in that interview was that MA was too stupid or musically inept to remember bass parts prior to a tour and that is bullshit.

MA talks about EVH trying to show him parts before the '04 disaster tour (in the forward to Hagar's book), when he was already playing the correct, original parts. Said it drove him crazy. Hagar alludes to that in the video...

EVH IS a liar because what he's saying isn't true - he didn't HAVE to show MA parts he already knew and there was never any video taping - he was just being a drunken dick before the '04 tour. Defend him all you want, but MA and Hagar are telling the truth. Based on the first hand accounts I've heard and how he belittles people publicly, EVH is horrible human being...

Steve

The point I'm making is that Hagar says in his vid that EVH never showed MA anything...when he says the same thing about it in his book...
