They played in NYC last night, great show. Singers in both bands sounded great, pretty close to their recorded sounds. Pagan's Mind played about 8 or 9 songs and most were from their last CD. I wish they played a little bit more of the older stuff but oh well. The guitars players 5150 sound good but didn't exactly cut through. But they sounded really good as a band and that singer is just ridiculous he's soo good.

The guy from Stratovarius was using 2 Recto heads on 2 Marshall 4x12's. I know he's the new guy in the band and the old guitar player wrote all their previous material, but the new guy was really good, looked pretty young too. His tone was good and he shredded all over. They played a good set with a mix of old and new, i don't have all their CD's but i recognized most of the tunes. Their singer looked like he was 4 feet tall, but he's got a big voice.

Ivan went with me and he has a KILLER pic of the singer in Pagan's Mind that he must post.

Timo K is a great vocalist. I prefer him live than in the studio.

Cool! I've seen Stratovarius twice; during their Infinite world tour in April 2000 and then in 2007, I think. Infinite tour gig was amazing but the 2nd gig was fucking horrible. Jörg Michaels and Timo Tolkki looked like they wanted to be anywhere else than on the stage, the sound was shitty etc.

Funny sidenote about Matias Kupiainen who is the new guitarist in Stratovarius; He played in the same band as my cousin's band's drummer up until a year ago or so. I know the drummer too and he's one sick mofo of a drummer... :)

LOL! :D Jens is a friggin' freak on keyboards! The guy drinks beer while playing some sickening stuff! His brother, Anders, who also played in Yngwie's band for a few years is the drummer of Hammerfall. They say that Jens is crazy but Anders is bigger, hairier and crazier of them two! :hys:

I would love to see both of these bands. Would love to go to a show with you and Ivan. Sounds like a good time!

Would some of you gents kindly list some Stratovarius tunes to check out? I've heard some of their songs without catching the names and I liked em'. I'm a big Sonata Arctica and Kamelot fan and have been told I need to check out Stratovarius.

My band played with Pagan's Mind last sunday and I totally agree that their singer is outrageously good. I also thought the guitar player had a little issue with his amp cutting through, but none the less they were awesome.

Yeah, it was a blast. The place was right in Times Square so as soon as we walked out of the club, BAMM, you right in the middle of the bee hive of the city. We were trying to find some hotdog joint that Ivan talked about but i was facing only 5 hours of sleep and needed to get home. :D

I just wish that 30th street guitars was open 24/7.

HAHAHAHAHAHA DUDE! So glad someone else noticed that. He seemed so stoked on life. Hell......it made me stoked on life.

To add onto what Dan said about Wednesday night, the opening band was a pretty good progressive metal band and the guitar player used a 7-string Schecter through an Ibanez toneblaster half stack. The $300 solid state one! And the rhythm tone was actually good ( lead tone a bit thin). Pagan's Mind guitarist needed a bit more mids and more volume. Great player with feel. The new Stratovarius guitarist is technically amazing and pretty much played flawlessly. Both pagans mind and stratovarius vocalists pulled off e erything recorded live. Extra points for pagans mind vocalists screams. I enjoyed the show! Thanks Dan!

Looks like this dude uploaded their entire discography to YouTube... https://www.youtube.com/user/ggonza43

I favor their more straight forward power metal stuff... I like Black Diamond, Speed of Light, Father Time, Stratosphere... Hunting High And Low will probably go over well with you if you like Kamelot and Sonata Arctica.

Danyeo, I want to personally thank you for getting me in to this band. I have found new life for my car's CD player. I've listened to Pagan's mind straight for three weeks now. Their cover of King Diamond is just amazing.

Your welcome, but i found out about them from people here. Some other CD's i need to find are.....

Masterplan.

The Black Halo from Kamelot.

Hellfire Club and Mandrake from Edguy.

And something from a band called Royal Hunt.

Metal is still breathing out there, just need to find it.

You were right about Vintage Vinyl.. That's the place to buy CD's. Their metal section alone is bigger than the entire music section of some Best Buy's.
