In my 20 years of buying and selling on-line, this has never happened to me. I should have known that the deal was too good to be true, but it was early morning and my judgement wasn't 100% there.

As I got up to feed my 3 month old at 5am, an item came up in my Reverb feed: Suhr Pro Modern for $600

Red flags immediately flew, but I thought it was too good of a deal to pass up. The pictures even showed the spec sheet that comes with Suhr guitars.

I bought it on the spot.

After I paid, I decided to check the seller's feedback. She had zero and actually opened the account 8.27.2015.

Such a freakin' newb move.

Surprisingly, she refunded the money to my paypal, but then I got this email:

Hi John . Thanks for buying this guitar. I return to you 600 USD.
I canceled purchase because I exceeded a monthly limit on my paypal account.
But you can send money to my business partner paypal account
(midlandanna@yahoo.com). I wait your message. Sincerly, Gina

Screw that. I took precautions in contacting Paypal and Reverb about the seller.

The shop is Gina's Shop from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Lessons learned:

No matter how good the deal is, think it through before you pull the trigger.

Don't buy stuff at 5am on 4 hours of sleep.

Happy hunting out there!!!

600 for a Suhr Modern yeah wow too good to be true....at least you got your money back.

A $600 Suhr Modern smells like a scam at any time of day.

OH! I can send money to your "business partner paypal account"?
let me get right on that!

Hey Dude - if you get an email from Nigeria asking for money....don't send it! :)
In all seriousness, I'm happy you got your money back.

Local BC boy here who knows practically all the retailers in Vancouver and thereabouts.

No "Gina's" to my recollection. Glad you got your money back, and not sure what to make of that excuse about reaching account limits?? Sounds like a GF got pissed at her BF, and tried selling his TL (True Love, aka "guitar") as payback for something. They reconciled and that's that.

Weird :dunno:
