I don't know if anyone else realized it but Mark IV's are getting harder to find. Since COVID there have been almost none on Ebay, Reverb or Guitar Center Used. As soon as one does show up it's gone pretty quick. I managed to get this widebody last month and then grabbed this little short chassis combo this week. It's a version A from January 1991. Sounds really good. I'm sending it to Mesa for a clean up and service and converting it to a head.

Congrats! Mk.ivs are awesome. Version A or B for that matter.

Congrats! I love mine! Have you noticed any real differences between the the versions?

An orange MesaBoogie Mark head?! Oh jeezus... that's F'ing awesome. Congrat's on a cool score.

Oh man that orange head looks just killer! Congrats, great score!

Thanks, that was the widebody combo I got last month and I went ahead and built that headshell for it. It's supposed to red.

Soundwise? Not really. The B is a 1995, the A is a 1991. With the same settings, The A may be a touch darker where the B is more open sounding but it may be tubes. I'm sure you could dial them in to be identical if you tried. The B and A have a different effects loop layout, The A has 2 separate loops, one is switchable. The B has one switchable loop that is stereo. That really makes no difference to me.

Im kinda scheming on getting another one too unfortunately my headshell is too tall so first priority is to get a decent headshell for mine. Then keeping my eye open for another one.

My understanding is that the B model runs a lower plate voltage on channels 1 and 2. If you use those channels a lot, it's worth considering.

Looks pretty similar to my orange Mark iv.
