Bummer, I thought he was a good singer, especially the STP stuff. He battled drugs for a long time, I would not be surprised if it was an OD.

Knew it was coming, but still. Wish he could have shaken it. Dude was great.

Definite bummer.

Got to see him twice with STP, once in the mid-90's and once in 2007 or 2008 on the reunion tour. I lucked out and saw two KILLER shows that Scott was just on fire for.

My guess is accidental OD, booze and pills.

So sad. I loved his work with STP and Velvet Revolver. RIP Brother.

I dont know how he lived this long. He was great! RIP

Even though this is the absolute least surprising news flash in history, I'm sure many lives are affected by this. For them I'm sympathetic.

^This... Unfortunately, I'm not surprised. I'm also saddened by the reality...

Definately sad. He lasted a lot longer than I ever thought he would. I guess he couldn't overcome his demons.

:( Saw him perform about two years ago, and he was doing real well. Some vids of him a few months back looked scary. Great talent. RIP.

Wow, I saw a FB post from him about a show yesterday. My first thought was how he lived this long. RIP, great singer.

It is pretty sad when none of us are surprised by the news.... I bet a lot of people who knew him felt like they were waiting for the call.

I'm super bummed, those first STP albums were a big influence on me.

always loved STP... but I'm surprised he lived as long as he did.

I really dug the first few STP albums, not the first one so much, actually there were a few good songs, but starting with the second album I thought it was really good. The vocals were great, fat guitars, amazing bass lines, cool drum beats, and the production was also great. Weiland was a great singer, and a performer as well. I saw STP in San Jose around 95 or 96 and they were KILLING it, easily one of the better shows I have ever seen. They were tight and on fire. When Weiland started expanding on his singing style, he always sounded good. I remember hearing Lady Picture Show on the radio and not even realizing it was STP at first. I thought for a second, "damn, who is this awesome band!" Totally changed up their style and sound. Not many bands do it well. But, they had great songwriters and they were all quite talented. Hell, their drummer even wrote one or two of their hit songs. Big loss for music. I was still hoping to hear another STP album with Weiland someday?

RIP

Did anyone ever hear the Talkshow album? It was the members of STP without Weiland. They found a guy who could sing well and recorded an album. It had some great songs on it.
