Scott Weiland found dead tonight.

I liked a lot of his stuff. But I don't get sad as much angry at these kind of self inflicted endings.

Agreed on Lady Picture Show, that whole disc had a great 70s/Beatles vibe going on that I really like a lot more than the depressing grunge stuff. Probably my favorite work from them.

Bummed. For a while they were my favorite band. Purple through No. 4 were just amazing albums, and they found ways to develop themselves into something really quite artful. As a front man, Weiland was up there with anyone.

I remember making dark jokes in high school every new years with my band mates on the over-under for Scott Weiland to make it through the coming year. I'm really quite surprised he lasted this long.

I saw him with VR in '07 or '08 with AiC as the opener. Weiland was awesome. Then saw STP at the Vic here in Chicago in 2012 and they came out over an hour late, only to play a mediocre 45 minute set. It was disappointing. I had wanted to see them in 2002 on their last tour before their hiatus when they played in Indy but my parents wouldn't let me go. I was 14 at the time.

My drummer back then was really lucky. When he was 10 years old his older brother took him to see RHCP and STP on the double headliner tour when RHCP was promoting Californication and STP was promoting No 4.

He was a great musician, writer, and performer. Enjoyed his works very much.

RIP

Plush, Interstate Love Song, Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart, Big Empty, Creep & Lady Picture Show are some of my favorite STP tunes.

'Fall To Pieces' with Velvet Revolver also shows how brilliant Weiland was! Just a great song!

RIP dude, thanks for sharing your musical gifts that will certainly live on....

I have seen a few friends and many other people die from drug and alcohol abuse. If you have issues with intoxicants you might want to consider some changes. Not just for you.... The people that care about you.

He was too old to be smoking crack cocaine when he died. Probably stopped his heart. Our bodies cannot take that abuse.
A real shame!

its sad but we all saw it coming, (which is even more sad) Hopefully wherever he is he will find peace from the addiction he had during this life. Killer singer!!!

Only thing I heard was he died in his sleep of cardiac arrest.

What's sad is that I'm not in the least surprised...it was bound to happen....too bad.
It should have been Lars.

What an iconic voice.

Saw him with STP a few times but he was on fuckin fire the night I saw him with Velvet Revolver. What a presence. His band mates put it best when they said his curse was a part of his gift.

Rest easy buddy.

LOVE STP, Velvet Revolver too. Too bad... Just jammed some STP tunes in Madison Square Family room-in memory. I remember my woman (at the time) was all worked up after a STP concert, Scott was a great showman!

Talk show was a great project. Army of Anyone is too. I hope the other members find something that sticks.

Sad news, RIP. He was a great front man- loved both STP and VR.
